Academic Programs Admission

All the Bachelor, Master MPhil, PhD programmes are announced twice a year in Fall &
Spring Semesters*. All the programmes follow semester system. The Department o ers
Useful Links admission to its programmes in following four discipline:

BS (Hons.) Chemistry

The admissions to BS 4-years programme are invited from all over Pakistan and are made
Powered by Translate on the basis of regional quota (BWP Merit) and on OPEN Merit as well. The admissions are
announced twice* a year (normally in Fall & Spring Semester).
Total Pageviews Age Limit
The maximum age limit for admission to the BS programme is 23 years. Any one beyond
8,620 the age of 23 years shall not be admitted unless the relaxation is granted by the Vice-
Chancellor under special circumstances on the recommendation of the Chairperson/
Director of Department/ School/ Institute/ Centre concerned.
Eligibility Criteria
An individual holding a Higher Secondary School Certi cate from a Pakistani Board, with at
least a second division is eligible for admission to the Bachelor’s programme of study.
The merit shall be calculated as per criteria mentioned here below:
FSc (Pre-Medical) / Pre-Engineering: 80%
NAT : 20%
Merit= (MOF)/(TM1) x80 + (MON)/(TM2)x20
where
MOF= Marks Obtained in FSc
TM1= Total Marks in the FSc
MON= Marks Obtained in NAT
TM2=Total Marks in NAT
M.Sc. Chemistry 
The admissions to M.Sc. programme are invited from all over Pakistan and are made on
the basis of regional quota (BWP Merit) and on (OPEN Merit) as well. The admissions are
announced twice* a year (normally in Fall & Spring Semester).
Age Limit
The maximum age limit for admission to the M.Sc. programme is 28 years. Any one
beyond the age of 28 years shall not be admitted unless the relaxation is granted by the
Vice-Chancellor under special circumstances on the recommendation of the Chairperson/

a second division is eligible for admission to the Masters programme of study.
The merit shall be calculated as per criteria mentioned here below:
Total Marks Obtained in B.Sc.
Marks Obtained in Chemistry
Combination Marks=10 (if study chemistry with mathematics & physics in bachelor)
Ha z Quran Marks=20
M.Phil. Chemistry
The admissions to M.Phil. programme are invited from all over Pakistan in (Analytical, Bio,
Inorganic, Organic & Physical Chemistry). The admissions are announced twice* a year
(normally in Fall & Spring Semester).
Eligibility Criteria
The admissions to courses leading to the degree of Master of Philosophy, abbreviated
‘MPhil; are invited from all over Pakistan and admissions are made on the basis of merit.
Eligible foreign students are admitted subject to a valid visa and NOC from HEC.
To be eligible for admission to MPhil, a candidate:
Shall have an MSc degree in the relevant discipline.
Shall have obtained at least 2nd division in MSc and BSc 2nd division .
Shall not have obtained third division in BSc or MSc.
Shall have passed NTS GAT-General/ GRE-General with at least 50%
accumulative score.
Shall pass the Departmental Admission Test with at least 50% score.

Note:

1. GAT (General) with 50% marks is compulsory however its score has no weightage
for merit calculations.
2.  The candidate must obtain 50% marks in each component of the item at Sr. 2
3. Merit calculations for candidates from semester system will be done using the
Reading Recknor Table in use at IUB
4. If however, the CGPA is out of 5 scale, it will be converted into percentage according
to Ready Recknor Table

Ph.D. Chemistry
The admissions to Ph.D programme are invited from all over Pakistan. The admissions are
announced twice* a year (normally in Fall & Spring Semester).
To be eligible for admission to PhD, a candidate shall have an MS/ MPhil degree
or its equivalent in a relevant subject from a recognized university with a
minimum CGPA of 3.00 (Semester System) or First Division (Annual System).
The PhD student prior to admission must qualify with at least 60% score in NTS
GAT Subject Test or should have scored International GRE Subject test with 60%
percentile (except foreign students).
