Why should you write an answer for GP using
‘claim, evidence and Reason..?’

By doing so, you make an argument or explanation convincing!!!!

Remember? All GP question papers have questions that ask you

about ‘ testing claim’, ‘use of evidence’ , or ‘how reasonable an
argument is?’

Here are a few questions to ask yourselves before

you start writing….

1. What are some possible claims?

2. Where will you look for your evidence?
3. What reasons show that this is good evidence?

3. “Uncertainty” words: usually, generally;
suggests, indicates
4. Therefore

• Introduce/identify precise claim(s), distinguish the claim(s) from
alternate or opposing claims, and create an organization[ use a quick graphic
organizer, if needed] that establishes clear relationships among the
claim(s), counterclaims, reasons, and evidence.

• Develop claim(s) and counterclaims fairly, supplying data and

evidence for each while pointing out the strengths and limitations of
both claim(s) and counterclaims in a
discipline/topic/issue‐appropriate form and in a manner that
anticipates the audience’s knowledge level and concerns.
 For a fully developed reason
[ a well developed/fully PEELED]..!
• Introduce precise, knowledgeable claim(s), establish the significance
of the claim(s), distinguish the claim(s) from alternate or opposing
claims, and create an organization that logically sequences the
claim(s), counterclaims, reasons, and evidence.

• Develop claim(s) and counterclaims fairly and thoroughly, supplying

the most relevant data and evidence for each while pointing out the
strengths and limitations of both claim(s) and counterclaims in a
discipline‐appropriate form that anticipates the audience’s
knowledge level, concerns, values, and possible biases and or vested
interests.
