Salah satu strategi untuk deteksi dini kegawatan pasien sakit berat dengan periode
penyakit kritis adalah dengan penerapan National Early Warning Scoring
(NEWS). NEWS adalah sebuah sistem peringatan dini yang menggunakan
penanda berupa skor untuk menilai pemburukan kondisi pasien. Penelitian ini
bertujuan mengetahui gambaran pelaksanaan NEWS oleh perawat. Penelitian ini
bersifat deskriptif dengan sampel penelitian perawat di Ruang Inap Tulip dan
Mawar RSUD dr. Dradjat Prawiranegara Serang sebanyak 40 orang diambil
menggunakan teknik total sampling. Hasil analisis univariat menunjukan hampir
seluruh perawat berumur < 40 tahun (95%), sebagian besar perawat berjenis
kelamin perempuan (60%), hampir sebagian besar perawat memiliki lama kerja ≥
5 tahun (57,5%), dan sebagian besar perawat melaksanakan NEWS dengan baik
(77,5%). Pihak rumah sakit perlu mengadakan briefing atau pengarahan secara
kontinyu tentang teori konsep NEWS sehingga dapat menyegarkan kembali
ingatan atau pengetahuan tentang teori atau konsep NEWS tersebut.

One of strategies for early detection of the serious illness of patients with periods
of critical illness is the application of the National Early Warning Scoring
(NEWS). NEWS is an early warning system that uses markers in the form of
scores to assess deterioration in a patient's condition. This study aims to determine
the description of NEWS implementation by nurses. The study was descriptive
with the sample of nurses at Tulip and Mawar Inpatients Room as many as 40
people from dr. Dradjat Prawiranegara General Hospital of Serang, taken by using
total sampling technique. The results of univariate analysis revealed that almost
nurses were <40 years old (95%), most nurses were female (60%), almost nurses
had 5 years of work (57.5%), and most nurses carried out NEWS well (77.5%).
The Hospital needs to hold a briefing or direction continuously about the NEWS
concept theory so that it can refresh the memory or knowledge of the NEWS
theory or concept.
