Introduction:
In the beginning of this course we designed an ammeter, voltmeter and
ohmmeter for DC current. This lab we will design a voltmeter for AC
current. Half wave rectifier type voltmeter with range zero to seven-volt
root mean square. The measuring will be by the deflection percent for the
voltmeter. We will see how it will change and calculate the error percent.
Objective:
The objective of this experiment is to design a half-wave, rectifier type,
AC voltmeter. We will design a 0 V to 7.07 V rms half-wave rectifier type
voltmeter. In addition, the properties encountered due to the non-ideal
properties of real diodes will be explored.
1. DC power supply:
“A power supply is an electrical device that
supplies electric power to an electrical
load. The primary function of a power
supply is to convert electric current from a
source to the correct voltage, current, and
frequency to power the load”.

2. Wires:
Wire is used for transmission of electricity or
electrical signals. A wire is a single, usually
cylindrical, flexible strand or rod of metal. Wires
are used to bear mechanical loads or electricity
and telecommunications signals.
5. Resistor
A resistor is a passive two-terminal
electrical component that implements
electrical resistance as a circuit element.
In electronic circuits, resistors are used to
reduce current flow, adjust signal levels,
to divide voltages, bias active elements,
and terminate transmission lines, among
other uses.

Conclusion:
At the end of this lab we learned how to design a voltmeter for AC current
by using half wave rectifier circuit. Also, we learned that in this case we
are interested in the deflecting percentage because it is hard to get
perfect measure due to the AC current. We noticed that the error increase
when the deflecting decrease and this is due to AC current and the basic
meter
