Half Channel Ring

In this tutorial we will try out some of the most useful com-
mands in RhinoGold. Powerful tools as Channel, Ring Size
Creator, Cutter Studio and Boolean Operations.

Ring Size Creator Split

1 2 Then, under the Drawing tab we can use the Split
Under the Jewellery tab, with the Gauge tool, we
can choose our ring size. In this case it is the number tool to to divide the circle. It’s important to activate
16 from European standard measures. The result is a circle the point option in the command line and the quadrant
with our desired diameter. object snap to catch the middle points.

Extrude
3 Now, under the Modelling tab with the Extrude tool
we can create a surface in the top half to use as
support in the next step.
Channel
4 Under the Jewellery tab with the Channel tool we
can define the gems of our ring, as well as all the
structure parameters following the pretended results.

 Polyline
5 Now, under the Drawing tab with the Polyline tool
we can create a curve to define the bottom profile,
it’s important to keep it as an open curve as the above
image.
Dynamic Profile

Now, under the Jewellery tab with the Dynamic
Profile tool we can define the bottom section of the
ring. In this case with the profile created previously and
define all the parameters suitable to fit on top section.
Boolean Difference
9 At this stage we can remove the cutters from the
ring, for this, with the Boolean Difference tool under
the Modelling tab.

Add Profile
6 At this stage we can add the profile created pre-
viously to our library. For this we should use the User
Folder Manager under the menu File > Options and then
assign it a name in the Profiles folder.
Cutter Studio
Now we can select the gems and use the Cutter
Studio tool under the Jewellery tab to create the
cutters around each gem as the above image.
Boolean Union
10 The final step, in the Modelling tab, with the Boolean
Union tool, we can unite both parts in a closed solid.
