Conclusion Chapter 1: Global Education and the Web 2.0 Revolution
At the beginning of 20 century, web 2.0 which was the second stage of development of World Wide Web began to be used by the educators as the tool for teaching by using some sites such as blogs, wikis, and social networking sites. By using web 2.0 teacher provided their students with a group of collaborative problem solbing, that make them understood the cultural perspectives of students who came from different social and ethnic backgrounds. By using web 2.0 students were able to share multimedia materials contained photos, videos, and music. They were able to discuss about the materials given by the lecturers or teachers without meeting face to face by using Google Groups, Facebook, or MySpcae that were easy to be accessed. Conclusion Chapter 2: Pathways to Global Education Empathy for others, fiinding new ways to enrich and engage, and desire for social justice are the three pathways to become a global educator. Empathy for others pathway is dealing with how teachers and students connect the world by knowing the cultural differences and communications. The finding new ways pathway deals to enrich and engage pathway deals with the traditional social-studies such as understanding critical issues about climate change, tradition of making peace of a conflict. It often leads to the development of skills necessary for conflict resolution and helping people, no matter what their ethnic, religious, or cultural backgrounds, to live in harmony condition. We also need support, mentoring, and collaborating in implementing those pathways. Conclusion Chapter 3: The Flat Classroom Project Flat Classroom Project is a global collaborative project designed for students made by Tom Friedman and it goal was to find out how today’s instant information age contributes to the major social and economic change occuring across the globe. The studentsare given same topics and work in group or pairs using tools that supported by web 2.0 such as wikis, Skype, Youtube, Blogger and Evoca. The Flat Classroom Project often uses blogs, Podcasts and Vodcasts, Skype and similar tools, Ning tool. The Flat Classroom Project and its successor project involving ifve classrooms highlighted the following principles and project strategies: aligning project purpose, learning objective, content with product outcome, scaffolding to support students in their collaborative work through the use of relevant tools and online resources, and preparing students with a knowledge of instructional design.
