RURAL MEDICAL CAMPS
Free medical camps are organized to provide health services and create an environment where
the underprivileged community gets sensitized about health issues. Thousands of poor people
These camps provide free tests for Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Haemoglobin etc and offers
counselling & treatment by trained Doctors and Specialists. Free medicines are given to the
people. Iron and Folic Acid supplements are also distributed to the malnourished at the camp.
The underprivileged community also has aging members who are not able to purchase health
care and access the facilities due to the long distance and other joint problems that have
demobilized them.
Apart from providing basic treatment and general check-up, the Medical Camps also help
people to be aware of their health status. Often these camps provide support exclusively for
adolescent girls and boys to inform them on reproductive and sexual health. Sanitary pads are
Specifically, the medical camps seek to provide both preventive and curative treatment for
common conditions in the community and refer those who require specialized treatment to the
relevant hospitals that are often funded by the medical trusts or NGOs. These camps play a
significant role to create awareness and provide counselling on HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and
other life-threatening ailments. They create awareness on the need for personal hygiene in
prevention of serious disabling diseases such as eye and dental, which are prevalent in some
slum areas due to dust and lack of adequate water. The free medical camps also encourage the
use of available nutritious food products in the area and discourage drug and substance abuse

RURAL MEDICAL CAMPS
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
A Free Rural Medical Camp is to be organised by the students specialised in Event
Management of Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University. In collaboration
with PAHAL an NGO (Non-Government Organization).
It is a project meant to enrich the performance of individuals in promoting community
development programs in a participatory manner with the goal of improving the quality of life
of marginalized communities and their children.
These camps are extending beyond just focusing upon the examination and treatment of
patients and relying on health awareness and good health seeking behaviour too. This is
because they believe that it is the only thing that can only contribute to the socio-economic
development of the country. In the absence of such quality healthcare in the rural and remote
locations of India, setting up a regular camp for it seems to be the most viable option. Medical
guidance is necessary in the areas where hospitals and doctors are scarce as there are many
people in the world who die in the need of healthcare services. This also includes the maternal
mortality rate with many mothers dying during childbirth making medical supervision
important for them. Such women are actually ignorant of their bodies and have little or no
P a g e 24 | 32

knowledge about hygiene. Hence, these camps help doctors investigate the cases and make
them informed about the real conditions.
OBJECTIVE OF RURAL MEDICAL CAMP
A Free medical Camp can be considered as a life-saving program which aims to provide free
medical and surgical services to poor communities living in rural or urban areas by a mobile
team with varieties of medical specialized services. Some NGOs, Charitable Medical Trusts,
and medical professionals are driven by strong ethics of medicine who believe that it is the
moral responsibility and obligation to treat each patient regardless of their incomes, race or
social status. The main objective of a medical camp is to provide initial care to people in life-
threatening conditions which reflect the unique strengths and goals of medical ethics. Other
objectives are as stated below:
ORGANISING A TEAM
Any event takes a concerted team effort to handle all of the details.
The youth leaders would be provided with different leads so that each one of them would be
able to focus on their particular task and confirm the availability of the same on the date of the
event. As groups evolve through the four stages of mutual acceptance, decision making, group
maturity, and control, their ability to deal with different and increasingly complex problems
also evolves. Management should be aware of the progress of a group and assign tasks
accordingly. As a group matures and grows, it evolves standards of expected behaviors and
attitudes. These are the group norms that are very important in the reinforcement of group
loyalty and identity.
Different heads to be allotted to leaders would be-
• Venue Management
• Speakers
• Publicity
• Sponsors
• Volunteer Management
• Logistics
• Doctors management team
• Other supplies and Materials
All the student’s volunteers would be divided on the basis of above teams.

EVENT BRANDING
The event management branding is the aspect of event organization that makes people
attend again and again. The biggest advantage of using a killer brand is that it provides a
relatively cost-effective solution for turning an event into a “must attend.” Indeed, a nicely
constructed logo that resonates with the decorations can draw crowds without draining your
budget.
Event branding is the collection of elements that make up the image of the event. For event
planners, branding is like a unique face. The more recognizable it is, the more people will pay
attention to it.
Event branding has a formula, which covers all aspects of event management. The process
of branding to the stages of event organization from pre-planning to post-activities can be
defined as event brand management.

RURAL MEDICAL CAMPS
Free time or a camp is the highlight of the year for lots of groups. This is a few days or 2-3
weeks of experiencing something and doing something together with people of a similar age
in a group and without any parents. Planning such an event and seeing it through is a challenge
for each group leader. It is not the problem that we have to take time and holidays and give up
our own personal holiday for the group, but that there are many things to plan and prepare. The
growing together of a group and the finding of each other works better in a camp. They are
together as a group for several days.
No-one can run away. Your role model, your social behaviour, your life, your readiness to
experience something with the group members, your endurance and your learning is observed.
Doing things together pushes people together and forms bonds. No-one is simply a visitor for
90 minutes and then runs off again, this has much more meaning. The camp does not take place
at home in the normal surroundings. The youths must get used to a new situation, do without
their daily shower, and maybe sleep in a place which is more uncomfortable than a soft bed.
Independence, social behaviour, helping out and dealing with disagreements might be totally
new experiences for some kids.

RURAL MEDICAL CAMPS
A growing number of marketers think that corporate sponsorship is better than other methods
as it provides opportunities to gauge customer response to products immediately. Events allow
business owners or executives relate directly with their customers, while they give customers
the opportunity to try out the products of a company first-hand. In comparison, marketing
research methods such as focus groups are usually costly and may not focus on the right kind
of people, while market surveys or questionnaires usually do not allow prospective customers
the opportunity to try out products.
• Seeking corporate sponsors to fund a portion of the event. This can range from national
organizations that might want to sponsor a dinner, offer a door prize or a key silent auction
item, to local businesses that might be able to provide goods or services, such as flowers for
the tables, gift bag items, etc.
• Partnering with community organizations who might be able to offer a venue and/or assistance
with organizing or staffing an event
So, to execute this camp we have made sponsors and partnership with the NGO.
PUBLICITY PLAN
Even with the most amazing speaker or entertainment line-up, you need publicity to get people
in the door. Event promotion starts with the initial notice or page on your website, note in your
newsletter or email to save the date, and then builds to include online and off-line publicity,
media relations and on-going outreach to encourage registration. And no plan is complete
without the post-event thank-you’d, sponsor acknowledgements and articles about the event’s
key messages or fundraising success.
P a g e 28 | 32
RURAL MEDICAL CAMPS
• Messages will be announced mentioning dates and timings of the camps by radio causal
announcer in the districts where camps will be organized.
2. Public Announcements :
• Public announcements will be made at Railway stations and Bus Stations for a period
of 1 month.
• Public announcements will also be done through other modes like miking, person with
drum etc.
3. Pamphlets:
• Pamphlets, broachers would be printed and distributed to the nearer areas of the medical
camps.
ESTABLISHING A BUDGET
In this event of rural medical camp we have all the things borne up by our sponsors and
partners which leads us to the zero budget plan. Because all the venue based things like the
place of conduct charges and chairs as well as catering charges would be borne by the
Gurudwara Committee of the particular village. Next coming to the doctors charges and the
medical equipment’s charges Johal Hospital as well as LPU Uni Hospital are ready to bear
all those expenses and rest of the expenses would be borne by our event partner Pahal an
Initiation NGO.

MEDIA PARTNER
In order to understand how media partnerships can benefit your ticket sales and social status,
it is important that you grasp the basics of marketing and social status in an event format first.
‘Social status’ is a media buzzword for ‘earned’ or ‘perceived’ reputation. The historical
timeline and quality of an event are the key driving factors towards developing
an earned reputation. To give you an example, take a look at the hugely popular and historical
events surrounding you such as the Olympics, Reading Festival, the World Cup, Woodstock,
Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury, and so on.
These organisers have built a solid social status over a long period of time and developed a
quality of event so powerful that people will go to almost any extent to buy a ticket even if it
means paying double the price on a touting website. Unfortunately, there is no way you can
fake the historical aspects and quality of an event, but there are things you can do to create a
perception of status that will bring you closer to a more genuine and ‘earned’ reputation.
So to keep a record the media partner for our Rural Medical Camps would be
CONCLUSION
Free medical camps are organized with a sacred mission to combat diseases and malnutrition
and serve the poor unconditionally. Besides providing primary health care, the camps also
contribute to raising awareness amongst the people informing them about the necessity of
adequate nutritious food, clean drinking water, dangers and risks of environmental pollution,
virtues of preventive health care, the vitality of family planning education and services. In the
medical camps, patient rights are strictly reserved and maintained: the right to privacy,

The United Nation’s Universal Human Rights Constitution (1948) states in Article
25:“Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of
himself and of his family, including food, clothing, and housing and medical care and necessary
social services.”
All human beings deserve to be subjected to basic healthcare rights irrespective of their
religion, color, race, sex, language, status, property, birth, profession, job and so on. Hence,
declining their rights to healthcare will only mean to deny their human rights.
Humanity can be gained only when we serve others. Being human is given but retaining our
humanity is a choice. So it is our humanity which makes us spiritual and our spirit makes us
human.
The camp would be a huge learning experience for all the students. The objectives that are laid
down for the camp would by and large meet. The most important benefit of the camp would be
that the students learnt to work as a team. The food, weather and surroundings would be
different and the students would be able to interact extremely well with the local community
as well as adjusted admirably to the rural setting. The students would definitely do a
commendable job in mobilizing the community and the huge turnout of people that attended
the programs bears testimony to this fact. The students would be spreading awareness about
health and hygiene. The students also would interact with the children of the activity centers
and play several games with them. The rural camp will be a very good occasion for the students
to exercise their social work principles and skills and the students benefitted immensely by the
experience.
