Families all over the world are different: There is no typical family . In different families, men and
women sometimes do different household chores such as cooking and cleaning. But, there is
one question all families with children have: Who takes care of the children when parents work?
Who does the childcare?

There are a few choices for working parents. One choice is to take the children to a day – care
center. Parents can bring their children to the day – care center before work and pick them up
after work. Another choice is to hire a sitter whose job is to take care of children. A sitter may
take care of children in his or her house or come to the family's house. Still another choice is to
hire a nanny. A nanny usually lives with a family and takes care of the children. Sometimes
childcare workers go to school where they get training in taking care of children.
