 Abstract-

In recent years , learning spaces have transitioned away from a static configuration
towards a dynamic arrangement of organizations, forms, spaces, functions etc. This
has given rise to many new innovations and ideas for articulating the learning
experiences. This thesis probes the ways of articulating the design of the learning
spaces with respect to its built form answering the following research.

Place is where dimension formed by people’s relationship with physical settings,

individual and group activities, and meanings in terms of architectural built form.
Thus by studying factors resulting such a physical setting in which learning can be
more enhanced is looked for. The architecture which interacts and involve the user
to have a better space to learn is desired by the research.

key words- spatial quality, form, space, functions, organizations.

 Aim-
To study and analyse the spatial characters influencing the built form of learning
spaces.

 Objectives-
 To study different philosophies evolving the learning spaces and thus taking
inferences .
 To study the built environment of learning spaces evolved by studying the
philosophies of Rudolf Steiner, Montesorri, and Rabindranath Tagore.
 Determining appropriate spatial requirements, spatial arrangement, environment
affecting the learning spaces.
 Identify spatial arrangements enhancing the built form.
 To study how architecture have impacts on the learning experiences.
 To study spatial relationships of spaces within a learning space.
 To study the physicals elements which enhance learning in an architectural space.

 Scope-
 To study and analyse the learning spaces in respect to the philosophy of Rudolf
Steiner.

 Limitations-
 The research does not talk about the human behaviour affected by the space.
 Further chapters will only talk about the spaces specific to a region and its
typologies.
 Response of these spaces and elements in different climatic conditions will not be
taken into consideration.
 Methodology-
 Theoretical research .
 Defining form and space.
 Study of various elements (usage, observations).
 Case studies and comparative study.

Research Questions-

 How space and form can be articulated for more enhanced learning spaces with
respect of built form?
 What are the different physical elements that enhance the learning spaces?
 What spatial qualities can enhance the learning spaces?
