Consider the following questions about the app: file can be opened in one of two
ways:
• How many sheets are currently in this app? (Answer = 7)
• How many bookmarks have been created? (Answer = 1)
Option 1:
• Are there any stories in this app? (Answer = Yes, 1 story.) Move the file to your Qlik Sense
Desktop hub directory at ...
C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Qlik\
Sense\Apps
Data model viewer ( ) ... which will cause it to become a
permanent part of your hub.
Consider the following questions about the underlying data model:

• How many data tables are currently in this app? (Answer = 12)
• Which panel shows metadata, or detailed information, for tables
and fields? (Answer = The Preview panel.)
• How many Rows are in the Customers table? (Answer = 638) Option 2:
Drag & drop the file onto your hub
(note: this approach opens, but will
not add the file to your hub).

Data load editor ( )


Consider the following questions about the data load script:

• Is there a separate section of the Data load script for the map area
data? (Answer = Yes, a separate section of the data load script exists
in the section titled Map.)
• Are there any existing Data connections in this app? (Answer =
Yes, a Folder-type data connection titled ‘Sales Discovery’ has been
created in this app.)

Sheet view ( ) – edit mode
With the Sales and Margin sheet in ‘edit’ mode, consider the following questions:

• Have any Measures been saved as Master items in this app? (Answer = Yes, there are 10
measures listed in the ‘Master items’ section of the Assets panel.)
• If you click to activate the Total Sales vs. Gross Profit Margin % scatter plot on the Sales and
Margin sheet, what message is presented in the Properties panel? (Answer = The message
indicates that the scatter plot is a ‘Linked visualization’ and that it cannot be edited. This means
that this is a Master item, stored in the Visualizations section of the Assets panel.)

Sheet view ( ) – analyze mode


With the Performance Dashboard sheet in ‘analyze’ mode, consider the following questions / instructions:

• On the Performance Dashboard sheet, use the Sales rep filter pane to select Brad Taylor.
What is the Sales Variation on the resulting subset of data? (Answer = -12.11%)
• Take a snapshot of the Sales: YTD vs LYTD vs YTD Goals combo chart, and annotate with the
text: “Brad Taylor’s accounts”.

• On the US Regional Analysis sheet, in which state does Brad Taylor have the highest sales
amount total? (Answer = CA or California)
• Clear the selection. Which two states now join California in the highest sales total
grouping for all sales reps? (Answer = MN and OH; note: mouseover tooltip display reveals
state abbreviations.)

Stories view ( )
Consider the following questions / instructions:

• How many slides exist in the current story? (Answer = 6)


• View the Snapshot library just to see the Sales: YTD vs LYTD vs YTD Goals snapshot,
annotated with the text Brad Taylor’s accounts, which you just took listed in the pop-out
menu.
• Play the story and step through slides until you see the Top Customers slide. In the Sales
by year bar chart, select the year 2013. In the Sales Rep filter pane, select Amelia Fields. In
the Top Customers combo chart, to which customer were the Sales totals for this subset of
data the highest? (Answer = WDND)

Continue your exploration of the Sales Discovery example until you become comfortable with the basic
navigation features and different views which are available in Qlik Sense.
