Dear Eller College Admissions Committee:

My name is Blake Brenton, I am currently studying Pre-Business with the intention of majoring in Finance and
Entrepreneurship at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management. I am excited to submit my application for
admittance into Eller College of Management. Ever since I can remember, my love for numbers has always pushed me
into the direction of Finance. I always had the mindset of choosing Business Management as my major until my
sophomore year when I had my first core accounting class that was specialized in financial accounting. One of my
favorite aspects of being a Finance major is the versatility of career choices that it offers and how crucial finance is in
any business. Finance serves as a critical part by providing the analysis, insight and guidance to enable strategic
decision making. I believe that my strong communication skills combined with my keen attention to detail would allow
me to be a perfect candidate for Finance and I firmly believe that my skillset will allow me to communicate crucial data
and analyses of a company and how that directly translates to the important decision making of a company.
Throughout my first three years at the University of Arizona, I have stepped out of comfort zone and have involved
myself into things that younger me never would’ve imagined. As Vice President and Scholarship Chair of the Beta Iota
Chapter of Theta Chi fraternity, I have learned to adapt in a working environment and learned how to communicate
well in a group setting to excel and achieve team success. These positions have also allowed me to hold not only
myself, but others accountable scholastically and professionally.
My position as the Warden of our petitioning member class of the Alpha Nu chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional
Business Fraternity was an opportunity for me to improve on my weaknesses. One skill that I had previously struggled
with and am continuing to work on is my assertiveness. I have learned to be an effective leader in setting the
professional tone that was required for us to effectively communicate and delegate. This is a transferrable and
beneficial skill to Finance due to the fact that establishing a culture of individuals who can communicate well through
tough decisions will ultimately benefit not only themselves but the business as a whole. Having the skill of being
assertive in my arsenal will assist me if I were able to take on a leadership role in a business setting.
I plan on being a great asset to the Eller College of Management through my work ethic and dedication to every
opportunity that I pursue in life. Thank you for your time and for the consideration of me being admitted into the Eller
College of Management. I hope to reciprocate everything that these positions have given me and have allowed me to
learn the many different things about myself. I have acquired the necessary skills to be the most impactful asset as a
Finance major that my abilities can offer.
Sincerely,

Blake Brenton
