The integrated assessment and management practices in pipeline field refers to measurements made by
pipeline operators to determine whether a hazardous liquid or natural gas pipeline has adequate
strength to prevent leaks or ruptures under normal operations and upset conditions.
Concepts of pipeline maintenance and inspection focused on the pipeline itself, investigating chiefly a
pipeline’s physical qualities, supporting systems and the administration of an operators inspection
program. Integrity management takes a broader view , encompassing the environment as well as the
pipeline. The pipeline operator are required to know more about the areas their pipeline traverses ; the
nature of population in the area; the existence of environmentally sensitive area near the pipeline.
Fundamentally, the integrity management seeks to understand the potential consequences of failure of
a specific pipeline in a particular area. It sets priorities for inspection and operations and maintenance
based on weather people, property or the environment might be at risk should a pipeline failure occur.
This project will briefly describe the each framework elements of pipeline integrity management
program. An indexing model risk assessment, case study would be conducted to briefly explain the
project outcomes.
The framework elements which will be covered in pipeline integrity management are identifying the
high consequence areas and determining whether a pipeline segment could affect a high consequence
area. Data gathering and review will be made by the integration of data sources along with the
identification and location of data and establishing a common reference system.
