What to do if you forget your Administration ID or Password

The first thing you can try to do is reinstall whatever Mac OS X

system you were running by inserting the disc, then shutting
down the computer, restarting the computer while you hold down
Apple button + C. This will begin the installation process and you
will start from scratch. You will most likely lose all of your old
information.

So you if you want to keep all of your files and try a quicker but a
little trickier process here is what you need to do. Create a new
Admin user account to override your forgotten password account.
Follow these directions:

Turn on your computer

When the computer chimes press and hold Apple button + S

The screen will be black with white text

Type the following:

/sbin/mount -uw /

Hit the Return Key

rm /var/db/.applesetupdone

Hit the Return Key

reboot

Hit the Return Key

Once your computer has restarted use the Setup Assistant to

create a new Admin User account and you can delete your old
account while saving all of your old files.
