ASSIGNMENT NO. 3. LAWYER'S DUTY TO THE COURTS

MY IDEA OF A MORAL LAWYER

Let us first know the meaning of moral and ethics. Morality is the differentiation of
intention and actions that are distinguished as proper and those that are
improper it may be the same as goodness or rightness. Ethics can be used more
narrowly to mean the moral principle of a particular group. My idea of a moral
lawyer is someone who will abide the rules and follow the code of professional
responsibility. But there are times when lawyers need to lie to protect their
clients. In my opinion the lawyer owes fidelity to the court and to the judiciary. He/
she must understand by heart and live by the code of professional responsibility
because it was not created just to be there. It was created for a purpose. That a
lawyer must abide these rules to practice his profession fairly and with due
process. Yes the lawyer must also protect their client because they also owe it to
them. That’s why the law created a rule about privilege communication. A moral
lawyer needs to balance its fidelity to both the court and its client. They must
know how to make it work.
