MICROCONTROLLER

The AT89S52 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit microcontroller with 4K bytes of

in-system programmable Flash memory. The device is manufactured using Atmel’s high-density
nonvolatile memory technology and is compatible with the industry-standard 80C51 instruction
set and pinout. The on-chip Flash allows the program memory to be reprogrammed in-system or
by a conventional nonvolatile memory programmer. By combining a versatile 8-bit CPU with in-
system programmable Flash on a monolithic chip, the Atmel AT89S52 is a powerful
microcontroller which provides a highly-flexible and cost-effective solution to many embedded
control applications. The AT89S52 provides the following standard features: 4K bytes of Flash,
128 bytes of RAM, 32 I/O lines, Watchdog timer, two data pointers, two 16-bit timer/counters, a
fivevector two-level interrupt architecture, a full duplex serial port, on-chip oscillator, and clock
circuitry. In addition, the AT89S52 is designed with static logic for operation down to zero
frequency and supports two software selectable power saving modes. The Idle Mode stops the
CPU while allowing the RAM, timer/counters, serial port, and interrupt system to continue
functioning. The Power-down mode saves the RAM contents but freezes the oscillator, disabling
all other chip functions until the next external interrupt or hardware reset
FEATURES:
• 4K Bytes of In-System Programmable (ISP) Flash Memory – Endurance: 1000 Write/Erase
Cycles
• 4.0V to 5.5V Operating Range
• Fully Static Operation: 0 Hz to 33 MHz
• Three-level Program Memory Lock
• 128 x 8-bit Internal RAM
• 32 Programmable I/O Lines
• Two 16-bit Timer/Counters
• Six Interrupt Sources
• Full Duplex UART Serial Channel
• Low-power Idle and Power-down Modes
• Interrupt Recovery from Power-down Mode
• Watchdog Timer
• Dual Data Pointer
• Power-off Flag
• Fast Programming Time
• Flexible ISP Programming (Byte and Page Mode)

SOLENOID VALVE

A solenoid valve is an electromechanical device in which the solenoid uses an electric current to
generate a magnetic field and thereby operate a mechanism which regulates the opening of fluid
flow in a valve.
Solenoid valves differ in the characteristics of the electric current they use, the strength of the
magnetic field they generate, the mechanism they use to regulate the fluid, and the type and
characteristics of fluid they control. The mechanism varies from linear action, plunger-
type actuators to pivoted-armature actuators and rocker actuators. The valve can use a two-port
design to regulate a flow or use a three or more port design to switch flows between ports.
Multiple solenoid valves can be placed together on a manifold.
Solenoid valves are the most frequently used control elements in fluidics. Their tasks are to shut
off, release, dose, distribute or mix fluids. They are found in many application areas. Solenoids
offer fast and safe switching, high reliability, long service life, good medium compatibility of the
materials used, low control power and compact design.
INFRARED SENSOR

The physics behind infrared sensors is governed by three laws:

1. Planck’s radiation law: Every object at a temperature T not equal to 0 K emits radiation

2. Stephan Boltzmann Law: The total energy emitted at all wavelengths by a black body is
related to the absolute temperature

3. Wien’s Displacement Law: Objects of different temperature emit spectra that peak at
different wavelengths

All objects which have a temperature greater than absolute zero (0 Kelvin) posses thermal energy
and are sources of infrared radiation as a result. Sources of infrared radiation include blackbody
radiators, tungsten lamps and silicon carbide. Infrared sensors typically use infrared lasers and
LEDs with specific infrared wavelengths as sources. A transmission medium is required for
infrared transmission, which can be comprised of either a vacuum, the atmosphere or an optical
fiber.

Optical components such as optical lenses made from quartz, CaF2, Ge and Si, polyethylene
Fresnel lenses and Al or Au mirrors are used to converge or focus the infrared radiation. In order
to limit spectral response, band-pass filters can be used. Next, infrared detectors are used to
detect the radiation which has been focused. The output from the detector is usually very small
and hence pre-amplifiers coupled with circuitry are required to further process the received
signals.
Working

 Whenever a person stands in front of the urine tub the infrared rays of the sensors will
cut, the sensor will sense the person standing before the urine tub.
 As soon as the infrared rays emitted by the sensor get cut due to the accomplice of a
person the microcontroller will start counting for 10 seconds.
 This delay will ensure that the person has used the urine tub actually.
 After 10 seconds delay the microcontroller will send an output signal to the solenoid
valve.
 Now the solenoid valve gets operated for 5 seconds.
 This will allow to drain water through the urine tub.
 After 5 seconds the solenoid valve turns off.
Conclusion

Most of people are not doing the flushing after the use of urine tab. So it was necessary to
construct a device which will clean the urine without any human interfere. For this purpose
automatic urine flusher suits better. It also uses accurate amount of water without wasting too
much.
