Why am I Highly Satisfied with my Life?

People have different hobbies, leisure activities or the things they like to do every day. Others like to sing, to
dance, and to collect different items. But when I was a child, I am very fond of watching Japanese cartoons
and ever since, I always wondered, "why there are adults find the very popular "ANIME" appealing?" back
then I thought anime is only for kids like me. Until I reached the age of 27, I was born originally here in the
Philippines but my dedicated love as a child who, instead of looking forward to Saturday morning cartoons,
looked forward to Saturday morning Anime. It started with the shows directed to a younger audience, such
as "Pokemon" and "Doraemon." My interests progressively grew into more action based shows like "One-
Piece," "Inuyasha," and "Dragon Ball Z." And finally, as a 27-year-old college student, I still to this day watch
the shows I watched as a kid and watch shows that are directed more to an older audience. Out of all the
hobbies I have taken on thus far in my life, Anime has engraved a permanent place in my heart.

I have been addicted to many animes but out of all the animes that I have watched, "Hunter x Hunter" is a
masterpiece for me. From the characters, to its storyline I find it very unique. Usually animes focus on creating
heroes but Hunter x Hunter set itself apart with one of the greatest story arcs in anime history in which the
villain, not the hero, takes the anime to instant classic status. It is the story of Gon Freecss, a 12-year-old
boy seeking to reconnect with a father he had always believed dead. Gon also wants to learn from his father,
who is a hunter of great skill. Until now, for me, it is really worthy of the investment of my time.

Watching animes really inspired me a lot. It is not always the vibrant colors of the characters that makes it
special but it is the vibrant colors giving positive impact in my life. It is not always about the childish fictional
stories but more of learning and understanding the Japanese culture and tradition. It is not always being
"WEIRD" or "NERD" but more of being highly imaginative and creative and lastly, it is not always travelling
to a fictional world but more of raising awareness to a thematic issue central to human existence. With
meaningful concepts such as reality vs virtual reality, corruption, and kinship, anime provides its audience
with lessons about the human race. I believe that in this world full of hatred and negativity, anime can
somehow bring positivity, happiness and satisfaction in our lives.

Technology: A friend or a foe?

For the past few years, the issue about the use of technology whether positive or negative has always been
debated. In our world today, people cannot live without the use of technology - gadgets such as: televisions,
mobile phones, and laptops. These technologies have slowly taken an essential part in people’s day-to-day
lives. Somehow, technology made our life easier and continues to make our lives more convenient rapidly
as years pass by. But since, us, people rely everything that we do on technology, we must be aware of the
consequences that will happen if we lose control of ourselves.

The evolution of modern technology gives us too much dependence on it to the point that we no longer think.
For instance, even if we know basic math but we tend to use calculator even on simple mental computation.
Time will come that devices might replace human minds. Another is human interaction is DEAD. It means
people no longer need to meet in person as much, and interpersonal relationships are suffering worldwide
because people are communicating through a small handheld device, the mobile phone. Lots of people have
phones and they use them almost semi-continuously, including in public settings whether in the dining area,
bathroom and yes almost everywhere when in fact, they could be making new friends, finding new lovers,
and talking/interacting with their current friends. Speaking of which, people are busy with their phones
because of the social media sites like Facebook where they share all their issues in life instead of opening
up to their family, Instagram where they post photos of delicious foods instead of enjoying eating with their
loved ones, Twitter where they tweet all of their hatred to someone instead of giving love to everyone. Social
media sites became the world of bullies and victims. Thanks to the internet, our world became virtual and at
the same time toxic.

To be honest, what worries me most is the fact that children as early as three years old can use gadgets and
access the internet. That is why, teenagers are either addicted to mobile games or the worst part is, suicidal.
Truly internet gives us access to almost all information and the world is at our fingertips but not all of these
information are reliable and most of them are fake, trap or scam. According to Albert Einstein, "I fear the day
that technology will surpass our human interaction." and this is not a fake news, it is happening and we cannot
deny it.

Undoubtedly, our society has seen many benefits and opportunities from technology. But one, cannot deny
the fact that technology slowly kills humans and the world we live in. From the suicidal thoughts brought by
the social media bullies to the pollution and depletion of the natural resources that destroys the nature
because of the gadgets, well one must take action. Instead of using a car going to a place few blocks from
home, we can try walking. Instead of using air conditioner if the climate's not too hot, use a fan. The change
must really start within ourselves. No one can save the world we live in other than us.

Technology has changed modern society drastically, both positively and negatively. Technology has
influenced every aspect of our life, making it simpler but not necessarily better. Technology has, beyond
doubt, eased the life of human-beings. It has proved to be a great development process of culture and
society. However, too much of anything is bad. Technology should be used with due care and caution only
for the purposed that will benefit the humanity.

How to Survive Thesis Writing?

Many college students suffer from major stress when it comes to writing their theses. The tiring days, the
sleepless nights, and the pressure of researching, editing, and revising results to anxiety attacks which is not
a good outcome at all.

For the past years, writing theses has always been a part of the students' lives especially the college
graduating students. It has always been a requirement here in the Philippines that a student must comply
before he/she graduates. Actually, thesis was first defined by the Greek philosopher, Aristotle as "a
supposition that is stated in contradiction with general opinion or express disagreement with other
philosophers." Although students find thesis writing very difficult, still it has given researchers advantages of
honing their skills when it comes to researching, analyzing and writing.

Here are some ways you can use to survive thesis writing: First, you must know the topic or the problem. The
topic or the problem that you will pick must be the one that you are passionately excited about because you
will have to spend months researching about it. Second, you have to set goals and plans including the time
management. You need to schedule an organized time to avoid having sleepless nights and of course to
submit the thesis on time. Then, allow yourself to have rests or breaks when writing thesis. You should not
tire yourself too much. You may have limited time and pressure to finish your thesis but health must come
first. You need enough energy to think so make sure to relax once in a while. Lastly, seek for motivations.
Think of your friends and family. Think of those successful persons who had done thesis writing. If they can
do it, so are you.

When you are done thinking of the topic that excites you or captures your interest as a researcher you can
now proceed to the real thesis writing world. You are now in the process of researching for your introduction
and related literature until you finish the whole chapters for your thesis.

Remember, Confucius once said that: "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."

BATANES: A Place Where my Heart Is

Ever since I was a child, I dreamt of travelling to different places especially abroad. I always liked to
experience winter season where I can play with the snow but as I grew up, I realized that places here in the
Philippines are indeed worthy of travelling. I used to watch vlogs and videos about the famous tourist spots
here in our country and one particular place really captured my heart, Batanes. The moment I saw the
landscape pictures of that place, I really want to see it for myself that is why it has been a part of my bucket
list for years.

Batanes is located in the Cagayan Valley Region. So if you will travel by a plane, a beautiful mountain view
of the island will welcome you. As I had noticed, the lifestyle of the people of Batanes is very simple. There
are only few vehicles, there are no tall buildings but only small sari-sari stores wherein you can buy the things
that you will need. The place is quiet and serene. It makes you want to go back to the time before where life
is just plain and basic. Of course, I fell in love with the place even more because of its breathtaking
landscapes. Batanes has it all. The beautiful hills, mountains, and beaches. The ocean that will relieve all of
the stress that we have in life and the cool wind that will refresh our minds will make you refuse to go back
where you live.

I was also amazed with Batanes' famous Basco lighthouse that will surely give you a spectacular view of the
place and will give you a breezy but gentle feeling of the wind. Batanes will truly give you a great outdoor
experience. From climbing the high mountains to swimming the deep blue salty ocean. The place is truly for
adventurous souls. Another is, they are also famous for their local foods, of course being close to the ocean
will give us delicious seafood delicacies. But aside from the beautiful places and delicious foods in Batanes,
one cannot deny the fact that locals in Batanes are really friendly. They are always willing to help and share
stories about their town. That is why I think some of the famous artists here in the Philippines choose to live
a quiet and simple life in Batanes. It's just made of all beautiful things. The people and the place itself is close
to perfection.

Even though my trip to Batanes is behind the screen of my laptop, but I can't help but to fall in love with the
place. It is something that we cannot trade for other trips to abroad and it is something that we should be
proud of as Filipinos. It is my dream place and I will make sure that time will come, I will have the chance to
visit and experience the great scenery in a peaceful setting, a perfect place to go soul searching and a place
where my heart is.. Batanes.
