CHAPTER 1

Introduction

The ultimate goal of vocational technical education training is for the acquisition of

knowledge, attitude and practical skills for sustainable development. The training of vocational

technical education students is based on the production of goods and services that are not only

relevant to themselves but to the society. stated that the acquisition of life-long practical skills

calls for effective and efficient teaching strategies, appropriate evaluation methods and

utilization of standard teaching materials; tools, machines, and equipment to ensure the

production of desired graduates with practical skills. Other requirements include training

manuals and availability of qualified teachers with experiences. However, such categories of

staff are also in high demand in the labor market, but could be suitably motivated for part time

teaching in technical colleges. Posited that one of the philosophies of occupational education is

pragmatism which stresses practical skill acquisition at vocational technical college level of

education. For this to be achieved, a more serious approach of instruction and exposure are

desired to improve the present trend in Vocational Technical Education (VTE).

From the situation of our class right now of Electrical Installation and Maintenance Senior

High School students, I think it’s really such a big thing to give attention in this problem of lack

of enough skills and performances in our majority subject. Because this is what we are going to

do someday if we ever survived from studying school to college. Our situation motivated me to

do this research on how we can overcome this issue to prevent the failure on our studies.
Statement of the Problem

Every senior high school students needs to be trained well to get their skills and

performance improved, the students can only learn inside their laboratory facility or workplace

unless they are practicing on an actual activity outside their laboratory facility.

Significance of the Study

Students

Having students with very skillful personality and very well performance in the society

is really big thing to help the community for some factors that it can be helpful for others, not for

their selves but for others who’s been struggling for academic performances.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The students of Orani National High School (main) in the course of Electrical Installation

and Maintenance are not totally learned all of the important things on Installation and wiring

such as basic finding for the common of the three-way switch. One half of the population of EIM

students didn’t know how to use Multi-meter to find the common of the three-way switch, one of

the reason why they don’t have the skill to look for the common of three-way switch is the

absences during the previous school year (Grade 11), if they only keep on studying the daily

lessons from our specialization adviser, it’s surely that they are not having trouble with their

skills and performances right now. But looking for the common of three-way switch it’s just easy

and not the totality of Electrical Installation and Maintenance, our subject is really complicated

and will become a complex once the student missed even just one topic about it. The solution

about this problem is to prevent the students from their absences so they don’t have to guess

whether they are doing it right or wrong, stopping the students to skip classes is one of the

greatest solution when it comes to skills and performance problem.
