Acceptance and Handover

Acceptance and Handover

Upon conclusion of the installation or maintenance

work, the medical device must be inspected and
accepted by trained technical personnel before
starting operation.
Dräger recommends DrägerService.
These tests determine
– whether the safety requirements necessary to
protect the patient and personnel have been
met, and
– whether the system performs as required.
The inspection results must be documented in
writing.
After acceptance, the medical device with the
associated documentation is handed over to its
owner. The handover must be documented for the
files.

NOTE
If the acceptance and/or inspection is not
successfully completed, the medical device
cannot be put into operation.

The users must then be instructed on how to

operate the medical device.

36 Assembly Instructions Polaris 100/200

Assembly

Assembly

Installing the central axis (with limited swivel range)

The central axis (with limited swivel range) has a

swivel range of 270o for the top arm. The stops
must be installed according to the layout of the
room.

WARNING
Risk of electric shock
Electrical work may only be carried out by
qualified personnel.
The cables emerging from the ceiling must be
disconnected from the power supply.
Disconnect the electrical systems from power
supply and secure against accidentally being
switched on.
The mains connection component is equipped
with a switch for the disconnection of all
poles, see page 46.

WARNING
Danger from central axis falling down
The central axis is heavy.
Secure the central axis with an installation lift
during installation or disassembly.

NOTE
The arms are marked with red stickers at the
connection. Each sticker has a counterpart -
another red sticker - at the central axis.
Red stickers only belong to the Polaris 100/200
light.
The stickers between the arms and the central
axis must be removed after the assembly is
finished.

Assembly Instructions Polaris 100/200 37

Assembly

Installing arm 2 on the ceiling tube WARNING

Danger from the spring arm and adapted
terminal devices falling down
D During installation, the diameter of the opened
circlip may be max. 1 mm larger than the
diameter of the shaft. A larger opening can
lead to material damage and loss of the
C locking function.
Do not use any circlip more than once. After
disassembly, dispose of the circlip and attach
E a new one.
A Make sure that the circlip locks correctly into
Arm 2
the respective groove during the assembly.
Otherwise there is a risk that the spring arm
and adapted terminal devices will fall down.

B 5 Check that the snap ring is secured in place.

6 Hold the sliding contact plug (E) in a straight
position (observe preferred position) and apply
some pressure until it locks into place in the
direction of the swivel arm and the ceiling tube.
7 Reattach the cap (A) to the arm. To do so,
014

attach the two halves to each other.

1 Remove cap (A) from the arm. Open both
halves to do so.
2 Attach arm 2 to the pin (B) of the ceiling tube.
3 Place the stop disk (C) in the drill hole.
4 Attach the snap ring (circlip) (D).
The snap ring must lock into place completely at
the groove of the ceiling tube pin.

WARNING
The arm with the mounted light may fall from
the ceiling tube pin.
If the arm is attached without a stop disk, the
snap ring can be opened.
Make sure that the arm is attached together
with the stop disk.

lead to material damage and loss of the safety
function.
B Do not use any one circlip more than once.
After disassembly, dispose of the circlip and

WARNING
The spring arm and the mounted light may fall
from the arm.
If the spring arm is attached without a stop
disk, the snap ring can be opened.
Make sure that the spring arm is attached
together with the stop disk.

WARNING
Danger from the spring arm and adapted
terminal devices falling down
During installation, the diameter of the opened
circlip may be max. 1 mm larger than the
diameter of the shaft. A larger opening can
lead to material damage and loss of the safety
function.
Do not use any one circlip more than once.
After disassembly, dispose of the circlip and
attach a new one.
Make sure that the circlip locks correctly into
the respective groove during the assembly.
Otherwise there is a risk that the spring arm
and adapted terminal devices will fall down.

9 Hold the sliding contact plug (I) in a straight

position (observe preferred position) and apply
some pressure until it locks into place in the
direction of the arm and the spring arm.

1 Attach the sterilizable handle (A) until it audibly

engages with the inner handle.
z Check the sterilizable handle for tight fit. Pull the
handle against the direction of attachment for
this purpose.

NOTE
The sterilizable handle is delivered by Dräger in
non-sterile condition.

WARNING
Danger of equipment malfunction and/or
danger for the patient!
If the sterilizable handle is not secured
correctly, it may fall into the surgical field.
Push the sterilizable handle onto the inner
handle just prior to operation until it engages
audibly.
Twist the handle slightly to the right or left to
achieve this.
Check the sterilizable handle for proper
seating by pulling it against the direction of
