Commentator:
Dear friends in Christ, we are gathered here this morning as one family of God to partake in
the Holy Eucharist and as we witness the Solemn Profession of Religious Vows of our
beloved brothers, Brother Arjay Cecilio, and Brother Emiliano Gutierrez, Jr. of the Clerics
Regular Minor.
Solemn Profession is the highest and most complete expression of the consecration to God
in the service of the Church, and of full aggregation in the religious family of the Clerics
Regular Minor. It is the sign of the spousal love that indissolubly unites Christ to the Church,
his spouse. As we begin the celebration, let us welcome Christ in the presence of the clergy,
with Reverend Father Teodoro Kalaw, CRM, Superior General of the Clerics Regular Minor-
Adorno Fathers. Please all rise.
ENTRANCE PROCESSION
After the people and the religious community members have gathered and everyone is properly positioned, the
procession begins through the church to the altar; during this time a suitable hymn is sung. The procession
takes place as follows: first the thurifer; followed by the cross with two candle bearers, altar servers, the
candidates for the profession accompanied by their novice master, the deacons, the concelebrants, the
presider.
GREETINGS
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
GOSPEL Lk 1:26-38
Priest: The Lord be with you.
Assembly: And with your spirit.
Priest: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke
Assembly: Glory to you, O Lord.
Candidate: PRESENT.
Candidate: PRESENT.
The candidates present themselves before the Superior General or his delegate:
HOMILY
After the homily and a short moment of silent meditation, only the candidates stand before the celebrant. The
celebrant, standing, poses the following questions:
LITANY OF SUPPLICATION
All rise and the celebrant address the assembly saying:
All stand.
The celebrant sits on the chair prepared for him; the two witnesses approach the celebrant, standing, act as
witnesses of the profession. Each of the candidates kneel before the celebrant and make his solemn profession.
At the end each return to his seat.
FORMULA OF PROFESSION
Candidate: To the Greater Glory of the Risen Christ, I, _______, born in _____________,
on the ________________, baptized on the ________________, in the parish
of _______________________________, in ____________________, in the
firm will to consecrate myself more intimately to God and to follow more closely
the Lord Jesus for my entire life, before my brothers who surround me and in
your hands, Very Reverend Father Teodoro Kalaw, CRM, Superior General of
the Clerics Regular Minor, freely make a solemn vow of perpetual chastity,
poverty, obedience and of not seeking ecclesiastical dignities outside the
Order, according to the Constitutions and Rules of the Clerics Regular Minor.
Moreover, I swear not to endeavor to be elected to the office of Major Superior
or local superior in our Order. I entrust myself with all my heart to this religious
family, to live in perfect charity in the service of God and of the Church, in union
with the Eucharistic Sacrifice of Christ, according to the charism and example
of the Founders, with the grace of the Holy Spirit, the help of the Blessed Virgin
Mary and the intercession of St. Michael and St. Joseph, our Protectors. Given
at __________, on the _____________.
After the blessing, the celebrant and the assembly sit while the professed remain standing.
Commentator: Following Christ, the religious will learn to live no more for himself, but for
the Lord who loved him and gave himself for him, and to complete that
which is lacking in the sufferings of Christ for his body, which is the Church.
The cross should be for us, as it was for Christ, the proof of the greatest
love. We will thus render testimony of the mysterious rapport between
renunciation and joy, between sacrifice and expansion of the heart,
between discipline and spiritual freedom. (Cost. 62)
The first professed kneel before the celebrant to receive the crucifix.
Commentator: Our founders wanted the Clerics Regular Minor to add to the vows of
chastity, poverty and obedience, as an ulterior and more profound
assimilation to the humble Christ, the solemn vow of not seeking
ecclesiastical dignities. (Cost. 6) The humble presence of Jesus in the
Eucharist, and his action of washing the feet of his disciples, are for us
particular motive for dedicating ourselves to the poor, the sick and the
suffering and the marginalized of all kinds, for their complete human and
Christian promotion. (Const. 89).
Then the professed, come before the celebrant and, kneeling, receive the towel:
The professed, assisted by an acolyte in the sanctuary arear, washes and dries the feet of the designated
person.
After the rite, the professed line themselves up before the celebrant who rise from his sit to give the formula of
acceptance in the community.
