THE ULTIMATE TEST OF GENUINE
LEADERSHIP
The world is crying out for leaders.

Romans 8:19 tells us that creation eagerly awaits the

manifestation of the sons of God. Since the sons of God are
those who bring peace (Matthew 5:9), we could say that the
world longs for leaders who bring peace to our troubled
planet.

This book shows how this crying need can be answered.

The answer to the problems of humanity is leadership i.e.

men and women who can lead us into a realm of peace,
prosperity and harmony.

A religious-minded person would answer that only God can do

such a thing. Such thinking is an abrogation of our
responsibility.

The truth is that God chooses to do it through people.

This book is written to both Christians and people who don’t

yet know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. It is my hope and

3
expectation that if you read this and you are not a Christian,
reading will convince you to follow Jesus Christ.

Because the book is written to both believers and people who

are not yet following Jesus, it is a strange book to write. I
must of necessity touch on deep spiritual truths that might
sail over the heads of some but since the option is to write
two books – a “spiritual “ and a “secular” one – I would rather
just have the one discourse. Since my objective is to bring
people who are not yet Christians to faith and since my
subject is very much rooted in eternal spiritual realities, it
makes sense to just have this message in one book.

There are principles in this book that can be implemented in

secular settings but the foundation of these principles is
spiritual truth and reality.

There is an unseen world – the world of spirit. That world is

more real than this one. It is not an ethereal, wispy “ghostly”
realm with no substance. The truth is that this spiritual realm
is more substantial; it is higher dimensional and further up
the spectrum of reality. Its molecular structure is faster than
the speed of light, hence its invisibility to us who live in sub-
light speed dimensions.

In that realm the Creator lives, as do His created servants the

angels. In other parts of the spirit realm live the fallen angels
who are in rebellion against God, They are headed up by
satan – once a mighty Archangel but now a spiritual renegade
and outlaw.

This means that there are two kingdoms in the spirit realm.
There are two opposing powers. Despite all the hype – most
of it self-generated – satan’s power and kingdom is

4
infinitesimal in relation to God’s. Indeed, satan and his
minions are defeated foes after the events of Jesus’
crucifixion, descent into hell - where He overcame all the
satanic host - and resurrection.

God as Creator is the ultimate authority. This is the principle

that must be understood by all leaders everywhere. God
created us and He has the ultimate authority over us. You
may have people in your life who have authority over you e.g.
your boss, the government, the Police etc. But God is the
highest authority there is. He is the Most High to give Him a
biblical title.

This book is founded upon the most sensible and basic

of principles that if you are going to exercise any
authority in any leadership role, you will do it cognisant
of and in alignment with the authority structure of the
universe.

In other words, you will recognise in your own leadership role

that all authentic authority flows down from the highest
authority, God Himself. This recognition of unseen spiritual
realities gives you an edge in both your leadership role and in
how you function as a leader.

Pretending such a reality does not exist or, even worse,

defying this reality, is dumb in the extreme. Many of our
problems in this world spring from such dumb thinking.
Indeed, much of what we term the “secular world” is a
construct of those who would rather pretend God has no right
to intervene in human affairs. That we get so much
spectacularly wrong in our world is proof of the folly of such
an approach.

5
The truth is that God created us in His image and, as the
ultimate Leader, He has “hard-wired” us with all the
necessary tools and wisdom to steward the physical
dimension we live in.

He has not skimped in this, either. We are not just equipped

to lead but to reign as kings in life. As He is, so are we in this
world and, since Scripture is replete with verses speaking of
Him as King, this means we are also to be kings and queens
on earth. God has called us to dominion. Indeed, this attribute
of dominion is so vital to our human being that God
emphasised it when He spoke us into existence:

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the
birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over
every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He
created him; male and female He created them.
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and
multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish
of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing
that moves on the earth.”
GENESIS 1:26-28 NKJV

In our modern age we could actually say that God made man
a clone of Himself in this physical realm. Note that the
distinguishing mark of being God-like is that we would have
dominion. This is what it means to be like the Lord God – we
will be lords!

You are supposed to rule and reign over every aspect of your
life. This also means you are supposed to exercise leadership

6
in the sphere or role you are called to. If you are a salesman,
you are to have dominion over your job. If you are promoted
to sales manager, you are still to have dominion over your
own affairs but you are also to lead others. Being promoted to
a management position does not mean you are licenced to be
a tyrant!

Yes, you have dominion in your role but you are not to treat
those you lead as subhuman creatures. Too many take
dominion into areas it is not meant to go. Authority that is
aligned with God as the Highest Power will not choose tyranny
as a viable leadership model. It is dominion, not domination.

A true leader will not train others to be mindless followers but

to be leaders themselves. True leaders raise up true leaders.
A leader must teach those in his/her charge how to have
dominion in their own sphere. In the Army, a good Sergeant-
Major will train rookies how to be self-sufficient and capable
soldiers with mastery over what they are assigned to do.

The difference between bad leadership and good leadership is

vital to our understanding. Authentic leadership will align itself
with spiritual reality, acknowledging God as the ultimate
authority and co-operating with this. Any other approach to
leadership is rooted in deception and prone to follow paths
that lead to tyranny and manipulation of others.

The ultimate test of genuine leadership, then, boils

down to one very basic question which every leader
must ask if him or herself: Is what I am doing aligned
with God’s authority and His purpose?

7
THE NORTH STAR
There is a sure way of passing the test of genuine leadership,
a “North Star” by which you can be guided to authenticity as a
leader. It is to recognise the ultimate authority of God as the
Highest Power and to actively and consciously align yourself
with this.

In Daniel chapter 4 the story is told of the mighty king of

Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar, who reigned over the
mightiest empire of his time. Nebuchadnezzar was warned
through a dream that unless he grasped a simple principle, he
would be taught a lesson. That principle was that The Most
High ruleth in the kingdom of men.

Nebuchadnezzar did not heed that advice and instead

attributed his kingship to his own greatness. As a result, he
went mad and lived like an animal for seven years until he
understood that all his power was God-given and that the
ultimate ruler was God.

Nebuchadnezzar paid a severe price for failing the test of

genuine leadership. His experience should be a lesson to all
who have rulership over others. God takes very seriously how

8
leaders think and how they conduct themselves because they
have power over other peoples’ lives.

It is absolutely vital that those called to rule and lead guide

themselves by the “North Star” of leadership and that they
align themselves with the purpose of God.

There is a principle called The Key Of David which I am going

to explain to you. Bona fide leaders have used this Key for
millennia and it can and should be used at every level of
leadership.

It is called The Key Of David because it is named after the

biblical King David, who was chosen and anointed to be King
of Israel while he was still a shepherd boy tending his father’s
sheep. David’s brothers were impressive specimens and
warriors in King Saul’s army but it was “wee David” who was
anointed by Samuel the Prophet to be Saul’s successor. God
saw David’s heart and this was the reason he was chosen to
be king.

You might be small in stature on the outside and not much to

look at but it is what is IN you that is important. You can be
nondescript on the outside but a giant on the inside!

Speaking of giants, we all know the story of how, on a visit

delivering food to his big brothers in the army camp, the boy
David ended up taking on a mighty monster of a man called
Goliath who had the mightiest fighting men in Israel’s ranks
cowering in fear. David killed Goliath by smacking him in the
head with the stone from a slingshot and then cutting off his
massive head.

After many ups and downs, David ended up succeeding Saul

on Israel’s Throne and his reign saw Israel progress from a
9
trodden down backwater to become the mightiest superpower
of its day.

The reason for this is very simple and should electrify you as
a leader!

10
DAVID’S AMAZING REVELATION
David was a special person in the Bible story. His passion for
God and his burning desire to have a relationship with Him
prompted God to say of him: “I have found David the son of
Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.”

David pursued a fanatical relationship with God and this was

completely non-religious. He worshipped God with all his
heart and being and obsessed about doing things to please
Him.

This abandonment to worship prompted God to give David

revelations that were before his time. David was more “New
Covenant” in his relationship with God than Old Covenant and
many scholars believe David’s Tabernacle was much more
New Covenant in terms of its worship model than the Mosaic
Tabernacle or Solomon’s Temple.

David “pushed the boundaries” and was not one to be bound

by religious convention. It is leaders like David who bring
massive changes for good in society because they will not be
held back by the chains of man-made tradition.

11
It is an amazing truth that God showed David Jesus 1,000
years before the Son of Man walked the earth!
YHWH said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make
thine enemies thy footstool.
YHWH shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in
the midst of thine enemies.
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties
of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of
thy youth.
YHWH hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever
after the order of Melchizedek.
The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of
his wrath.
He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the
dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.
He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up
the head.
PSALM 110

David’s Psalm here contains a vision of Someone sitting at the

right hand of YHWH. David refers to this Person as “my lord.”

This means that David’s concept of authority was thus: YHWH

God on His Throne ruling over all, with this Person at His right
hand. It was this Person who was David’s immediate Lord and
Master. He sat on the Throne as King of Israel but he
personally answered to the Person at God’s right hand.

Now, of course we know from the New Testament writings

that this Person was Jesus. David was either seeing by
revelation a vision of heaven where the pre-incarnate Word of
God sat at the right hand of the Father – that Word later
becoming incarnate as Jesus Christ – or he was seeing a

12
future vision of Christ ascended and glorified at God’s right
hand after Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.

Either way or both ways, we know that David acknowledged

this Person to be his own Lord. Jesus himself reminded the
religious leaders that David referred to Him as Lord (Mark
12:35-37) even though the Messiah was known as the Son of
David. Jesus actually challenged them by asking how could
this be?

The answer is very simple: God gave David – who lived 1,000
years before Jesus walked the earth – a revelation of Jesus’
Lordship and His place as God’s Son at the right hand of the
Majesty on high.

For our study purposes we could say this: God gave David a
game-changing view of how true authority is aligned from the
Godhead downwards!

God the Father rules on His heavenly Throne as the ultimate

authority – the Most High.

This authority is delegated through the 2nd Person of the

Godhead, Jesus the Son, Who is seated at the Father’s right
hand.

Those, like David, who are in leadership positions on earth,

conduct their roles in accordance with this chain of command.

Of course, you can be a leader or even a national ruler and

ignore this chain of command, doing things your own way but
that only means three things: 1) You are a chump. 2) You are
bound to fail. 3) You are rebelling against the true authority of
the cosmos.

13
This vision that David was given in the 110th Psalm is the
divine blueprint or template that we are to follow in our own
leadership roles. We are answerable to the Godhead and must
align ourselves with this chain of command.

This necessitates a spiritual approach to things and an

acceptance of metaphysical realities. People who are used to
the supernatural will have no difficulty with this but those who
are not will have to plunge in headlong!

The fact is that conducting our societies and living our lives in
defiant ignorance of spiritual realities is not serving us well.
We are witnessing many disturbing trends in our so-called
civilisation that are the direct result of shunning God and His
right to tell us how to think, behave and speak.

The bottom line is that God is The Boss and trying to live by
ignoring Him is not only hurtful to us; it is extremely
dangerous to future generations and to the planet itself. You
could argue that the worst thing God can do to us is leave us
to our own devices. Thankfully and mercifully, He doesn’t.

In fact, you could easily say that the Bible – God’s Word to
man – is with us for the very purpose of teaching us how to
avoid making the mistakes made by people like
Nebuchadnezzar, who wrongly and pridefully attributed his
own wealth and power to his own greatness and ability.

We have God’s Word to teach us how to align with God’s

purpose for us. This purpose incorporates a recognition on our
part that Jesus Christ is Lord of the cosmos and a response
that befits this recognition.

In short, this response is to say personally: “Jesus Christ is

MY Lord. He is my Master and I choose to answer to Him.”
14
This concept of having a Lord or Master might seem a bit old-
fashioned or even inappropriate to some but it is an
acknowledgement of spiritual reality and a proactive response
aligning yourself with the Kingdom of God.

The fact is, Jesus has the right to be our Lord. He made us
and He died for us, taking our sins upon Him on the cross.
Now He rules on high for us. He is not a dictatorial tyrant like
earthly rulers – His rule is one of love. It is beneficial to us in
infinitely fathomless ways.

The first thing to notice here is that David had a lord. David
knew his place, in other words. He recognized that he himself
was a man under authority. No man is fit to rule who is not
himself under orders from a higher power. The second and
most striking thing to notice is that David distinguished his
lord from YHWH. In short, David had a prophetic glimpse of
the relationship of the Triune Godhead.

You must acknowledge that there is a hierarchy in leadership

and that ultimately we are all under the headship of Almighty
God. You either align yourself with this or go your own way –
be your “own” boss, as it were – and eventually crash and
burn.

Jesus asked the question: What will it profit a man if he gains

the whole world and loses his own soul?

If you do not align yourself with proper spiritual authority, you

will actually lose your destiny, no matter how successful you
appear to be outwardly.

15
THE POWERS THAT BE
The Bible tells us that the powers that be are ordained by God
(Romans 13:1). This simply means that, as we have seen,
leadership is hierarchical and that this hierarchy extends
beyond human rulers in the visible realm we live in. Men and
women must always govern with this truth in mind, exercising
their rule with careful consideration to what is pleasing and
acceptable to God.

It is not even arguable to say that this consideration must be

foremost in the thinking of any leader, particularly those who
govern in civic authorities like governments and councils.

There is a check and balance mechanism built in to society in

order to prevent leaders from being tyrannical and to have
them removed when they become despotic.

That mechanism is not the ballot box; it is prayer.

The prayers of the saints are what God uses to keep

governmental leaders on the straight and narrow. If a national
leader is abusing their power by legislating things that are
opposed to God’s will, then that leader can be – and should be
– removed by the prayers of God’s people.

16
This is the reason Christians are being increasingly persecuted
in this age. Leaders are not always as dumb as they appear –
they know that believers have the power to pray them out.
That is why governments work tirelessly to introduce and
implement their agenda of aggressive secularisation; they
despise being chained to what they see as an imposition upon
them i.e. the need to obey God and align themselves with His
will and purpose for mankind.

By curbing the influence of believers, politicians hope to avoid

being bounced out of office.

None of this is new. An ancient psalm speaks of the

propensity of kings and rulers to reject divine authority and
do their own thing.

Why do the nations rage,

And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
“I will declare the decree:
The LORD has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You

17
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
PSALM 2 NKJV

It should be noted that there is a tendency among many to

rebel against authority. Sadly, not everyone is thrilled with
the idea that God would tell them what to do, even though we
are all His creation.

It’s not surprising, then, that we end up with leaders who take
up the cudgels against the idea of aligning with God’s
authority, even although the history of mankind is strewn with
teeming examples of the folly of rebellion. Wars, famines,
poverty, injustice, genocide, abuse etc are all the fruit of
refusing to comply with a governmental system originating in
our Creator which could easily bring an Edenic existence and
much more to us if we just surrendered our own stubborn
wills.

Note that this psalm speaks of kings and rulers. Astute

observers of how our world system functions will be aware
that these are not always the same thing! Many of our

18
national leaders are but puppets to shadowy forces who rule
them from behind.

It’s always been that way but the good news is, things are
going to change very dramatically very soon!

This world needs a paradigm shift from its present state of

woefully inept, corrupt and incompetent government by
people who are absolutely unqualified to rule – to a state
where men and women align with God’s authority and
supernatural power to bring His Kingdom to earth, liberating
mankind and eradicating war, violence, poverty and injustice.

Peace on earth is available. But only if we do things right.

How much longer will we persist in concepts of governance
that are consistently proven to fail us before we lay down our
arrogance and self-justifications to receive God’s wisdom on
how this planet is supposed to function?

19
OVER THE RAINBOW
If you are a believer in Christ, you are mandated with
authority to change things on planet earth that don’t line up
with God’s will and purpose for this place.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ…

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:
Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is
to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the
dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own
blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father,
to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
REVELATION 1,4-6 NKJV

You will see that this is a revelation of Jesus Christ. The word
“revelation” in Greek is the word from which we get the word
apocalypse.

There is a tendency to think of apocalypse as the end of the

world and this is accompanied by pictures of an endtime world
dictator, the mark of the beast in the form of computer chips
and other lurid images.

20
However, the book of Revelation tells us plainly what it is
about – the revelation i.e. the unveiling, revealing and
disclosure of Jesus Christ. If you aren’t seeing Jesus front and
centre in this book, you ain’t reading it right!

We don’t go much further before we see something about

Jesus Christ that, even after 2,000 years of Christian teaching
and exposition, is still an obscured truth today. That’s why we
need revelation!

Verse 5 tells us that Jesus is the faithful witness. Well, that is

something every believer knows and hears preached often.
Then we read that He is the firstborn from the dead. The
resurrection is a vital, central truth and is well-known even
among people who are not Christians.

Then we read something that is a shock to many believers

when it is pointed out to them. We read that Jesus is the ruler
of the kings of the earth.

He’s what???

That is not something you read in the Christianity 101

textbooks.

Jesus as Lord is a concept that is only a partial truth for many

believers. When they confess Jesus is Lord they mean it
personally and individually – or corporately in relation to His
Church, the Body of Christ.

There is an unspoken mindset prevalent among far too many

believers that Christ’s Lordship over things in this world is
something that is put off to the future, that the devil is
running things on earth and Jesus is like some absentee

21
landlord, leaving us all to the mercy of a vicious spiritual
outlaw.

That’s because this wonderful truth revealed here in

Revelation 1:5 is not widely taught and expounded upon. Yet
in a world groaning under the inept and impotent leadership
of people who choose to govern in defiance of and wilful
ignorance of the One who created us, this truth is absolutely
vital.

We have already seen that the powers that be can be

changed by the prayers of God’s people petitioning Him and
decreeing the doom of wicked despots.

The reason for this is because the humblest of saints, denied

access to earthly rulers and whose voice is rejected by them,
can go above them straight to their Boss! The Throne of the
Lord in glory realms is directly accessible to every Christian.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may

obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
HEBREWS 4:16 NKJV

If a leader or ruler is not conforming to the program, the

believer is mandated to pray an improve-or-remove request
to that ruler’s Superior, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Note that we are not mendicants begging for God to do

something for us. Verse 6 of Revelation 1 informs us that
Jesus has brought us into this ministry by making US kings
and priests in a co-regency position. This gives us authority to
make our prayers more than mere petitions. We actually have
authority to judge earthly rulers and decree their
establishment or removal.

22
Jesus is the Supreme Authority over the affairs of the
universe and thus of kings and rulers of this earth. We reign
with Him and exercise His authority by decreeing His
judgements – and ours – over earthly governments.

Psalm 149 speaks of the right that saints of God have to force
rulers to conform to Kingdom principles and judgements.

Let the saints be joyful in glory;

Let them sing aloud on their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
And a two-edged sword in their hand,
To execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishments on the peoples;
To bind their kings with chains,
And their nobles with fetters of iron;
To execute on them the written judgment—
This honor have all His saints.
Praise the LORD!
PSALM 149:5-9 NKJV

If you are in Christ, you are a king and priest unto God. You
have the authority to make decrees upon this earth to
transform how things are here. You are commissioned to
release the will of heaven upon earth and literally pull the
Kingdom of the heavens out of the glory into earthly
manifestation.

You are a being sent from glory realms to transform this

world of darkness and brokenness into a colony of heaven.
Further up the spectrum of reality, in realms beyond the
speed of light, there is a perfect Kingdom and a perfect

23
society. The job of every believer is to manifest this Kingdom
and society here in our physical, sub-lightspeed dimension.

You are not sent as a peasant or a beggar but as a royal

ambassador with the DNA of the Lord of the Universe in your
spirit. You are heaven’s royalty on a mission to a needy part
of God’s cosmos.

It is of the utmost importance that you constantly walk in

consciousness of your true royal identity. Always remember
that, just as the true King walked in humility, so must we.
Authentic leadership is not lording it over others; it is serving
others while drawing from the infinite supply in the Kingdom.

You are sent from The One who lives in unapproachable light
to lighten up a dark and desperate world, bringing His peace,
love, justice, mercy and order to all who live here.

You have come down the light spectrum to bring into

manifestation the wondrous glories that exist over the
rainbow.

24
YOU AND THE KEY OF DAVID
There is a powerful illustration in the Book of Isaiah which
gives us so many illustrations and insights into how authentic
leadership is the answer for our troubled planet at this time.

Thus says the Lord GOD of Hosts:

Come, go to this treasurer, even to Shebna, who is over the royal
household, and say:
What right do you have here? And whom do you have here that
you have dug out for yourself a tomb here, as he who hews out
for himself a tomb on high, and who cuts a habitation for himself
in a rock?
Indeed, the LORD is about to hurl you headlong, O man; He is
about to seize you firmly.
He will surely violently turn and toss you like a ball into a large
country; there you shall die, and there the chariots of your glory
shall be the shame of your lord’s house.
I will drive you from your office and pull you down from your
station.
In that day I will call My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah. And I
will clothe him with your robe and tie him securely with your
sash. And I will entrust him with your authority, and he shall be a
father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of

25
Judah. The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder.
Then he shall open, and no one shall shut. And he shall shut, and
no one shall open. I will fasten him as a nail in a firm place, and
he shall become a glorious throne to his father’s house. They
shall hang on him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring
and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the bowls to all
the jars.
ISAIAH 22:15-24 MEV

Shebna was the king’s chamberlain, the man with power over
the affairs of the king’s household. We could call such an
office in our time that of “Prime Minister.”

The chamberlain had the master key to the king’s palace. This
meant in practice that he either had every key to every door
in the place – including secret and confidential chambers – or
that he had the skeleton key which unlocked all the doors.
Certain others with responsibility over certain functions would
have keys pertinent to the doors they were authorised to go
into but the chamberlain had access to all rooms.

Shebna was labelled a treasure here by the Prophet Isaiah

because he was a man more interested in counting what
things were worth to his own purse. He was in the office for
what he could get, just like politicians are to this day. Unlike
Eliakim, he did not have a fathering heart.

If you have the heart of a father or mother, you are qualified

for leadership. Without such, don’t even dare to think about
leading others.

Shebna’s stewardship had become so corrupt that the prophet

actually says he has made his office a place of death like a

26
tomb. This is the principle we must grasp: Genuine leadership
brings life to people, while bogus leaders can only minister
death, darkness and destruction.

Shebna was dispatched, having been forcibly removed from

office. His place was given to a man with a father’s heart, a
faithful man who would be a competent steward of the things
entrusted to him.

The job of those who know God is to pray faithful stewards

into such leadership roles and/or to step into them
themselves. That includes praying out the Shebnas of this
world, those who see important leadership offices as mere
stepping stones to personal advancement and individual
enrichment.

We must develop a culture in our society where only just and

principled people can reach high office and fill leadership
functions at any level.

This passage mentions the fables Key of David, which is

central to our understanding of authentic governance.

The king’s chamberlain had the master key to the palace and
some scholars believe this was displayed on the shoulder or
breast of the chamberlain to signify his position as the king’s
right hand man and first minister of state.

If you have ever watched Game of Thrones you will be

familiar with the office of “The Hand” which is the right hand
man of the king in King’s Landing, the capital of Westeros.
This official has a large brooch on his shoulder; interestingly,

27
the left shoulder as this would be where the hand would rest
on his “right hand man.”

This is a similar idea to the office that Shebna was deposed

from in favour of Eliakim.

God is looking for Eliakims today. We don’t need mercenaries

in any office, whether it be church ministry or ministries of
state.

Notice that Eliakim is given power to open and shut doors.

Eliakim ministry is ministry which can shut off things that are
unproductive and release things that are creative and that
produce life.

Eliakim received the Key of the House of David on his

shoulder. Remember it was said of Jesus that the government
would be upon His shoulder. There are some things about the
shoulder to consider. Firstly, the shoulder is a metaphor for
both strength and responsibility. We say of people that they
shoulder things well, meaning they are capable, responsible
people. Another thing about the shoulder is it denotes
application. No lazy person should ever be given a leadership
role.

If you are called to leadership, you need to be a determined

and disciplined person who doesn’t shirk work. Diligence is
vital. That doesn’t mean hard work, however. Hard work is for
fools. Diligence is labour applied through wisdom. Leaders
know when to apply energy and when to conserve it. Yet they
are always ready to do what needs to be done. They are
always at their post of duty.

28
As a 21st century Eliakim, you are called to be proficient in the
implementation of the Key of David. This Key is important to
the last days Philadelphia Church (see Revelation 3:7-13).
Governmental authority is being released to the Body of
Christ in these times. More specifically, it is being released to
overcomers. Overcomers are those who have learned to walk
in their kingly or queenly role.

Many believers live under the paradigm where they are a

punchbag for the devil. This does not please God. These folks
imagine their trials and tribulations buy them special status
with God. In fact, it is the opposite. Their lack of faith
displeases the Father. It doesn’t change His love for them but
they are unproductive. Remember that faith is the victory
wthat overcomes this world. If you are not living in victory,
you are not living in faith and you are not giving God
pleasure.

I have been there where I gloried in suffering that, by the

mercy of God, I later found out was over 90% self-inflicted.
We need to stop playing these pseudo-spiritual games
whereby we convince ourselves that being sick, broke, beaten
up and busted is proof of how special we are to the Lord. That
is not suffering for Jesus; that is living way below our calling.

We are called to reign as kings in life through Jesus Christ

(Romans 5:17).

You are supposed to function on this planet as if all things are

under your feet. Because they are. That doesn’t mean we get
haughty with other people; it simply means we are to walk in
dominion as heavenly ambassadors over earthly
circumstances.
29
You are not an earthling looking for a way to get heaven to
come down and help you – you are a heaven-sent being who
has come with all the answers!

You are a portal to the glory. Glory is in you and it has to

come more and more through you in order to meet the needs
of humanity.

Princes and princesses are often hurried in their education

and training because the last thing a nation needs is an heir
who is thrust into reigning but is unfit because they are
immature. This was often the nightmare scenario in ancient
kingdoms. When the monarch was too young to actively take
the throne and rule, it brought instability to the land.

You cannot afford to be an immature Christian. You need to

get out of your babyness and be an adult. The world needs
you in your full-orbed royal authority, a mature son or
daughter taking your place as a father or mother over the
people entrusted to you.

Just as Eliakim was a father to the people under Hezekiah’s

kingly rule, so you are to be to the people in your sphere of
influence as a co-regent with King Jesus.

30
LIVING AND REIGNING FROM THE
GLORY REALM
Knowing you are a king is absolutely vital if you are to walk in
your God-ordained authority. It is also essential that you
understand you must reign from above, where you are seated
in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 2:6).

You must be a heaven-sent king or queen. Earthly thinking

cannot provide the solutions that will transform our society
into the Kingdom pattern. You must live from above. Kings
and queens don’t live like people who live in tower blocks or
even middle-class suburbs. Nor should you live like an
earthling.

Of course, you need to live above the frequency of this world

while managing to walk in favour with people, not be seen as
a religious flake. Jesus managed it and so can you. Being a
king or queen means we stop all that trying to be like Jesus
baby stuff and just let Him live big through us - as us!

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

COLOSSIANS 3:2 NKJV

31
You need to focus on who you are from a heavenly
perspective, not from an earthly one. I like the King James
translation here, where it says: “Set your affection on things
above.”

Heaven is not just your destination when you die or way off in
the future; it is your homeland from which you are sent as an
ambassador. Your Father and Elder Brother are there and
have sent you here on a mission to recolonise this planet.
Your wisdom, your solutions, your resources and your power
all come from above. You are seated in heavenly places in
Christ even while you are physically located here.

This bi-locality factor is something we must meditate into a

great deal. The reality is that, while we walk this earth, we
are also in some mystical way also seated in heaven above in
Christ. Jesus Himself is bi-local; He is at the right hand of God
as well as present in our hearts. As is the Father.

I believe this amazing truth is one of the things Paul heard

while he was in heaven (see 2 Corinthians 12:3,4). Paul said
these things were not lawful for man to utter. Yet he speaks
of bi-locality in Ephesians 2:6 when he says that God has
raised us up together, and made us sit together in the
heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Paul wrote Ephesians a few years after 2 Corinthians. My take

on it is that when Paul wrote to the Corinthians he was
prohibited from speaking about the bi-local nature of the new
creation. By the time he wrote Ephesians, the Lord permitted
him to share this truth.

32
I have had similar experiences where the Lord has shown me
things that He told me not to share, only to tell me later on in
time that it was now permissible to do so. I could be wrong
about bi-locality being what Paul saw and was initially
forbidden to speak of and, if I am, I am intrigued as to what
he did see!

The point is, bi-locality is there in scripture. Anyone who has

ever had an out-of-body experience will know that bi-locality
is very real and, when it is happening, just as natural as can
be - even though it is supernatural!

You are not an earthly creature seeking to connect with

heaven; you are a glory being engaging with this dimension
from higher up the spectrum of reality. That might sound a bit
New Age but it is actually KAINOS Age.

Interestingly, Ephesians 2:7 talks of how our being seated in

heavenly places in Christ is connected to the ages to come.
Bi-locality is a power of the age to come (Hebrews 6:5) and
we can walk in such powers. In fact, we should.

You are an eternal king or queen tasked with bringing the

Kingdom you were born out of into this temporal realm. You
should think, speak and act like the royalty you truly are.

You can expect to be funded at levels of royalty. Jesus was

while on earth. Also, you can draw on the infinite resources of
heaven while you are here.

It’s good to be king!

MANCHILD GENERATION
Some years back I came across a book in a second-hand
bookshop. It was the account of a Pastor from Glasgow and
his congregation over almost fifty years of ministry.

The man was called John McPhee and he was born again and
baptised in the Spirit in the early years of the 20th century
Pentecostal outpouring. He was part of pioneering apostle
William Hutchinson’s Apostolic Faith Church before his group
broke away to take their own path in God.

As I read this astonishing book, which detailed awesome

revelation about the future of Britain, as well as Britain’s
origins, I realised that what this man was saying was not just
agreeing with things I believed myself, it was drawing forth
things from my spirit that I knew at a very deep level.

John McPhee’s writings activated revelation in me and I wrote

my book The Key Of David following on from his book.

I mentioned John McPhee in an article I wrote for an

international Christian magazine and his two granddaughters
contacted me.

34
One day one of them summoned me to her home where they
were both present. I had gotten to know them and they
frequently attended the church I pastored at that time. Upon
arriving at this lady’s house, they both proceeded to grill me
about some things just to confirm one or two matters, it
seemed.

Then this lady left the room and came back with some sheets
of paper. “I have been holding on to this for many years,” she
said. She then proceeded to say that after her grandfather’s
congregation had died off, she was entrusted to keep these
papers, which contained a prophecy given by John McPhee’s
brother in 1920.

This prophecy was about a coming man of God who would

bring revival to Scotland and the UK and help to restore divine
order to government in the nation. This dear lady told me that
this man was to have certain determining evidences in his life
and ministry and that he was expected to show up all through
the many decades of the church being active. Because he
never did, it was believed this lady would meet the man and
pass this prophetic transcript on to him.

The two sisters then proceeded to tell me they both agreed

that I was this man!

This old saint had kept this prophecy for decades and she
shared that many a night she had been attacked by the evil
one just for having it in her possession.

This absolutely mind-blowing prophetic word is something I

hold so sacred that I have shared it with only a few people
close to me. The amazing thing is that it was given over forty
years before I was even born and foretold my ministry calling.

35
When I read the prophecy, it activated a memory in me of
going to heaven when I was very young. I had “forgotten” the
reason for being taken up but the prophetic word showed me
that I was sent from heaven with the Key of David revelation
which will transform human governments, particularly here in
Britain.

There are many aspects and levels of the Key of David truth
but the fundamental principle is that God has called the
believer to reign in life as a king. That doesn’t just mean we
have dominion over our own lives and circumstances but that
we exercise governmental authority on earth and transform
things in society and culture.

We are here to manifest the Kingdom of Heaven here on

earth.

Our mandate extends beyond this planet into the cosmic

realm (read Psalm 8 prayerfully) but we have a job to do
here.

There is a Manchild company of believers rising up who will

co-labour with the Lord to make earth a pattern of Heaven’s
Kingdom, eradicating the evils that plague us and making this
planet a footstool for the true King of the universe.

Jesus, the Ruler of earth’s kings, has made us kings and

priests in His royal family.

The only question is, will we live up to it? Or will we be mired

in religious bondage, human limitation and peasant mindsets?

You are a king or a queen if you are in Christ.

Live it out!
