Esta carrera es una de más largas en las universidades tanto públicas como
privadas. El alumno debe llevar 7 u 8 años de estudio porque además de llevar
clases de medicina general deberá elegir una especialización, que tiene de
entre 3 a 4 años de duración aproximadamente.
Esto sin olvidar que debe postular al Servicio Rural Urbano Marginal de Salud
(Serums), que le permite trabajar durante un año para el Estado y con ello
acumular un puntaje.
En esta carrera existen más de 60 especializaciones, entre las cuales podemos
destacar Cardiología, Cirugía, Dermatología, Endocrinología,
Gastroenterología, Geriatría, Ginecología, Nefrología, Oftalmología,
Traumatología y otras más.
Las cifras varían mucho en este punto. Medicina es la carrera más costosa,
ya que cobra la pensión más alta en todas las universidades particulares que
tienen esta especialidad, e incluye más horas de estudios. En el caso de las
nacionales su costo es menor pues solo se paga anualmente una cifra que no
supera los 200 soles.
El portal ‘Ponte en Carrera’ señala que la universidad más cara donde estudiar
toda la carrera es la universidad Cayetano Heredia, con una inversión promedio
de S/. 31.480, luego le sigue la Científica del Sur con S./25.500 y la San Martín
de Porres con S/. 20.860.
