Motivation in AMSA
Please explain your motivation in joining AMSA and what are the benefits that you have received.
 In my lecture, there are pretty much of organization which focused on respective field.
Every organization has explained well their work program at that time, but the unique one I
found was AMSA. The first time when AMSA socialized about them, the most fascinate side
is this organization fasilitate to every member have a chance to work together not only with
another medical student from different university (AMSA National) but also we are able to
work with the other organization non medical like ALSA also the work program AMSA is
proposed for create the comprehensive communication with the other country (AMSA
International). Then, after I think it over, so this organization has a complete work program
because not only contribute in national event but also we can join in international event too.
This is one that makes they different with other organization who focused only for national
event. Because of the interesting work program like this, I finally choose AMSA as one of
my organization which can give me chance to go to international easier by joining the event
which be held by AMSA next.

As long I have being observer in AMSA-Unsri, surely I have realized there are so
many benefit I have gotten from the process as observer like first event which held by
AMSA-Unsri was TRABEKULA (Try Out Bersama FK UNSRI Gemilang) 2017, at this
moment, I was appointed as coordinator sponsorship for this event. Here, It was my first
experience even I didn’t know at all what our works and goals. But, the previous
coordinator last year or my AMSA senior 2015 finally teached me well and kindly give
me more information about how to ask for a sponsor properly.

The other benefit was I get when recently we have organized the event together
AMSA X ALSA GOES TO PUBLIC 2017, this event was so useful because we are able
to interact with other organization have different field like we finally know about little of
law, beside that this event was make me touching because the held in orphanage and it
could remind us indirectly about how the condition there with their limitations and from
this event, we have done social act to persuade them not use drug for having good future
life.
 So for all benefit I have gotten, I realize that AMSA is suitable with their philosophy
“Knowledge, Friendship, Action” which executed properly without anything left.

Knowledge of AMSA-Indonesia
Please elaborate on the current AMSA-Indonesia situation in general (you can use SWOT analysis).

AMSA Indonesia is only one of organization which fasilitate compeletely for

medical student, especially for academic, research and society. For academic aspect,
AMSA itself gives medical student chance to start how to learn and make scientific paper
also scientific poster from product is made by Academic Team or we usually called as A
book and AMINO. AMSA Indonesia also have a special program like LAT (Local
Academic Training) which beneficial for AMSA member in preparing first before the
real competition in order to be more ready as a winner then next can go to international.
For research aspect, AMSA gives us chance to study the new life about national and
international riset. For society aspect, there are so many event held by AMSA which
approach in social act, when we celebrate the big health day like “World AIDS Day” so
PnP team will publication about what is the event which held by every AMSA university
there and also APH will socialize and inform the day from social media.

Sometimes the weakness for AMSA Indonesia is caused by the distance from one
district to another district also from one university to other university like we usually
have a communication from online that often happen the misunderstanding until will
influence the outcome of any event.

The popularity of AMSA Indonesia nowadays comes true because of the getting many
achievement from member AMSA who always contribute in some competition and
succesfully as the winner with bring AMSA. AMSA Indonesia is acceptable and
recognized nationally by other organizations so that we can make and do the work
programs together like with ALSA. Not only for medical students who don’t join in
AMSA but also students from another faculty is familiar too with AMSA and they get the
positive effect from social act held by AMSA and the most important too they are able to
get information about health easily from the posting in social media by AMSA.

The real threat for AMSA Indonesia is the difference of academic schedule for every
member which make their member have a different time to prepare for their AMSA
project. Beside that, the main member’s problem sometimes happen because of difficulty
for member AMSA in dividing their time for lecture and for organization can influence
the success for AMSA work program which has been made.

Personal Experience
Please tell us about your personal experiences, activities that you have joined, and your achievements that makes you suitable for a
position on the National Team of AMSA-Indonesia. Narrow your descriptions to areas that are related to the position you are applying
for. For Academic and Research National Team applicants, please mention all of your publications.

When I was in my Senior High School. My school had a program named as BUGEMM

(Budaya Gemar Membaca dan Menulis). In the first semester of 10 grade as the dormitory
student, I tried for the first time make the scientific paper for my semester graduation
requirements, every odd semester we have the obligation make the proposal research from
chapter 1-3 only then in the end of semester it must be have test for that. At that time, I had a
title “The Comparison of Cleaning Toilet Seat with Soft Drink and Floor
Cleaning Fluid”. In my first research, I was help by my advisor too much and I have asked

many question with my senior in 11 grade then I finally finished it all until chapter 3, in

December we had a test for it. Next, in second semester of 10 grade, I had to continue my
proposal research became a real research (need to solve from chapter 4 until chapter 5). It
may be called as the hardest part to make chapter 4 because it is the main point of research it
must answer the problem formulation in chapter 1. With the hardest intention, I tried directly
my research in my dormitory bathroom, I comparised it all until I got the answer, I answered
and interpreted all of my problem formulation and my result data. Next in chapter 5, I just
wrote the conclusions and suggestions for my research. Finally, I have done it all perfectly
with the result I got predicate “A” in my semester report card.
Obviously, my big attention with research to make a scientific papers not stop until
this, joining in one of extracuricular at my senior high school, named as KIRANA 17
(Karya Ilmiah Remaja Andalan 17) has given many of achievement from city level to

province level even until national level. It was started when I was in 11 grade, two of my
friend have heard about the competition for KTI which held by SMA N 15 Palembang then
after they got information completly, they came to my class and asked for me to join with
them for this competition. I agreed for that, the theme of that competition was about culture
and art. After we all think it over, we finally decided the title is ”Hilangnya Bahasa Asli
Palembang seiring dengan Perkembangan Keragaman Etnis”. Why we focused on
Palembangnese? Because we know nowadays many of Palembangnese has used not real
Palembang language but it has been combined with other language so that we prepared
several question in one paper questionnaire then for they who accept that questionare had
to translate from Indonesia language to Palembang language (5 questions). From 100
samples we divided randomly, obvioulsy only 20% (=20 persons) who has true at all. We
solved the research then we were ready to present it in front of three judges, at that
moment I was presentant, I explained it all with the true data. Finally the result was my
team got the third winner for this competition.
The second competition I followed with my two friends held by SMA N 1 Palembang,
in this competition still prepared the sub theme about art and culture. Again and again, I was
interested in culture then My team decided to choose it. But for this competition, there were
so many obstacles because the competition only gave three weeks to solve the research while
we just knew about this competition when only two weeks left and unluckily we had to made
the research together with mid semester. Just because we have applied and transfered for
registration to its committee so we couldn’t cancel it again because if we cancelled it we
could make our school value will decrease. As long mid term, I tried to find a idea to make it
become a good title for this research, then after I searched and read from many sources, I
found the unique one, it was a “Game Bidar” trial in youtube, I have big chance to promote
this especially to students in Palembang because Bidar is a boat as identity of Palembang,

usually it will held Bidar competition every 17 July(Birthday of Palembang) and 17
August (Independence Day of Indonesia). We used questionnaire method again to student in
senior high school only and we present the trial youtube of that game in front of three judges.
Proudly, after I have done it all, all of people were happy and surprise in that class. One of
jury said “Game ini memberikan ciri khas
untuk kota Palembang dan jarang suatu permainan dapat mengangkat suatu budaya”.
Finally, for this competition, my team could give the second trophy for jubel (=SMA 17)
although we only got the third winner again.

Because of my ambition to go national competition has embedded from was in 10
grade, I had intention to go to national competition for OSN Chemistry. But it was a pity,
My intention was failed I just got it until province level only. Luckily, I still had another
chance to go national team, I followed selection from online first My team and I sent my
proposal research about “Game Bidar Indonesia sebagai Wujud Pelestarian Budaya
Palembang”. Then, my proposal team was agreed and we had chance to go Semarang in
Univesity of Dian Nuswantoro for final

In my 11 grade in semester 2 after I have solved and presented my scientific paper
for BUGEMM with the title “Investigating The Existance of Formaldehyde in some
various of Milk”. This time my school had competition for classsmeeting after we have
passed our semester test. One of the competition was “Pemilihan BEST BUGEMM”,
then I was the one of candidate because my examiner and my advisor sent my title to the
coordinator. At that time, the coordinator of BUGEMM, Mr. Arvin as My beloved
Indonesian teacher called me after I have done my last semester day. He told me that I
had to prepare for this competition in monday. I finally prepared it well and perfectly.
The result was I got the second winner for Best English BUGEMM.
Several days before the raport card was given to student in my school, one of my teacher
called me then he asked me to send a scientific paper again to follow the competition which I
expect from the first because I looked my previous winner from my school were my
motivator at all in chemistry olympiad and research. The competition was “ASTRA
HONDA MOTOR BEST STUDENT YEAR 2015”. I sent my proposal research first then I
have a chance to present it and also I had to performance my talent, singing. Then for
Regional South Sumatera, there were three first winner would be sent to national in Jakarta. I
was grateful because I had a chance to the national for twice because in this competition I
got the second winner and I got money and trophy as my prize.
sNowadays, I am as medical student in University of Sriwijaya and I am the one of
member AMSA-Unsri will be contribute and focused on my field, Research through register
myself as one of R team for AMSA Indonesia. Beside that, in fact I have joined in
Acamedic and Research in AMSA-Unsri as observer, from this I have gotten many of
new knowledge.

Purpose of Application
Please describe what you know of the previous National Team (you can use SWOT analysis) that you are applying for and its
problems. And please give your solutions to these problems.

Research team is one of national team for AMSA Indonesia which contribute and
focused on supervise the national riset for preparing the winner team in NRPC and they
will representative AMSA Indonesia for AMSC. The unique work program by R Team
is RWS (Read, Write and Share) . It aims to develop member’s skill which is one of
vision and mision AMSA-Indonesia. From this program, hopefully the R team will give
big impact for all of member especially in research field. The other program is Research
time with expert aims to teach us how we present our research properly in front of many
people and also we are be able to choose the good jurnal for R team’s research soon.
This program is kind of talk show by expert and it held in NAE.
The one of work program by R team held in 2016/2017 was NRPC. In NRPC, there
was selection of of proposal research by juries and finally it got three best proposal
research then R team had obligation to supervise and accompany for research activites
at AMSA University in the sitrict that accompanied hims. Then, in NAE it would be a
selection for one proposal research only by voting based on the priority from R Project.
This year has different way because in this year the best three proposal research in
NRPC will present their research in NAE first then the one proposal research winner
from NAE will helped by R team to solve their research and riset while last year R team
worked three proposal reseacrh but this year only one proposal reseacrh for AMSC.
 I myself agree with the new rules which only take one proposal research and R team
will supervise it because if only one research hopefully it can be focused to solve the
riset properly.

Please explain why you are interested in applying for this position.

From Research team we will be facilitated for national and also international riset, I
am able to know more research in medical and I hope if I have selected as one of R-
team, My friend R team and I are able to help the selected team proposal hardly and
clearly to solve their proposal become the real and worthy research so they all ready
to promote and present that to international. In other words, AMSA Indonesia is
able to be winner again in international research competition with the contribution
has done by R team and supported by other AMSA member in every district.
Please describe all ideas that you may have to improve AMSA-Indonesia through your position as National Team. Explain the ideas
systematically and convince us that you are really passionate in realizing these ideas.

To encourage performance from R team for AMSA Indonesia, I myself have idea,
Based on the essays publication from R team exactly with RWS program has done
expected all of AMSA University command all of member in AMSA University to
poure criticism and suggestions like strengths and weakness from essays has
publicated by R team in email. From this, through this way all of AMSA member
are able to read essays and interested in research.
