Role Playing

Young people often have a difficult time recognizing conflict before it evolves into verbal abuse or
bullying .Through strategic role play, this activity will provide students with the key social emotional
learning tools they need to effectively communicate one side of an argument, as well as the motivation to
empathize with the other. During conflict, emotion is an integral part and tends to become a barrier to
achieve resolution. For me, role playing is an effective way to resolve a conflict because one has to be aware
of the sources and impact of emotion in such situation.

Tracking

This strategy can gather necessary and fair information and arguments about situation in the
classroom or within the school. Students expressed their concerns and observations, regarding situations that
resulted to a conflict. This enabled the students to be aware and to be keen observer in the environment.
Tracking enable the students to express their opinion about the said event or situation. Students will have the
courage to tell the truth by stating what has been witnessed without necessarily pointing the involved
persons. The teachers have to examine thoroughly the written output of all the students and should make
proper judgement.

Listening

Another strategy to resolve a conflict is to sit back and listen to his/her perspective without
interrupting. To best resolve conflict, it is important to really listen without dismissing ones perspective, this
way it encourages the students involved in the conflict to tell the truth. Repeating and acknowledging what
has been said and asking clarification should be incorporated in listening. It can be really hard to interject,
but thoughtfully listening will speak volumes about how much you value and want to reach a compromise
.Keeping the conversation focused on what is the intention is very vital. Through listening there is
understanding and realization.

Writing about the Conflict

This strategy will allow the students to address the conflict and give students the opportunity to
express their thoughts, perspective and feelings freely, through writing. For me the students can freely
express through writing because there is no pressure or expectation from the teacher. It allows the students
to share what is happening in their lives, their side of the story, or anything that they feel is important to
write. Writing about conflict enables the student to realize what had happened. This will allow them to pause
and reflect on the incident, as well as make some realizations. Students who are involve in the conflict will
have time to settle their differences and misunderstanding before taking further action..
