“A PLANNING RESEARCH PROJECT TITLE: INPUTS TO A PUBLIC TRANSPORT TERMINAL

IN VILLAREAL, SAMAR”

B. Rationale:
Villareal, is classified as a 4th class municipality belonging to the second political district of Samar
with 38 Barangays. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 28,230 people.

The municipality’s been growing fast, leading to an increased demand for public transport services
and facilities. This has subsequently led to challenges to provide suitable bus terminals. The
municipality is keen to provide good public transport but have difficulties providing the needed space.
The significance of this research project proposal is to establish a transport terminal in order to provide
convenience to its users. A comprehensive study is therefore undertaken including literature review,
field studies and modeling of the capacity of different types of bus stop and bus terminal.

Overall, “A PLANNING RESEARCH PROJECT TITLE: INPUTS TO A PUBLIC TRANSPORT

TERMINAL IN VILLAREAL, SAMAR” envisions of providing the municipality of Villareal an authentic
public transport terminal which will ensure comfort, safety and convenience to the commuters in
Villareal .

C. Objectives:
1. The study aims to analyse passenger satisfaction and convenience who experience the
services in some provincial bus in Villareal, Samar.
2. To reduce the risk of road accidents causing by the commuters being forced to wait on the
roads for public transport.
3. Use of transportation infrastructure to help create an attractive and healthy community.
