Today, we will be focusing on teaching someone else.

Body (30 min.)

Teaching Someone Else

-In your table groups, I will give you a term that needs a definition
-It is your job to find the FORMAL definition of the term I give you

What do I mean by “formal?” (proper, correct, real, not just made up)

-This is a little sneak peek into Chapter 7, which we will be starting next week.

-Once ALL group members of EACH TABLE have the definition of their term, I will lead you into the next step.
-Please let me know when your table has the definition ready. (All of you need to have it written down somewhere)

Terms: Government, Democracy/Representative Democracy, Representation by population/Rep by pop,

Manufacturing, Reciprocity, Free Trade

Everyone is Ready
-DO NOT MOVE YET, wait until I say “Go”
-In a moment, I will get you to get up and move to a new table with all new people
-People that you did not work with at your table, with your definition

-What you’re going to do at your new table is: teach the other people what your term is and what it means
-Once everyone at your table has gone, please let me know that you are done, and we will talk about why this strategy
is beneficial

Why might this be Useful?

-Repeat to remember  doesn’t necessarily mean repeat to yourself all the time  repeating it to other people is a
great way to help you remember information
-You almost have to memorize it anyway to repeat it OFF BOOK to other people, so it is an extra way that can help
you solidify it in your brain
