WORKSHEET: READING RESISTOR VALUES

Name: ___________________________________ Section: ____________ Score: ___________

________________________________________________________________________________________

I. Read the color bands of each resistor to find their resistance values.

Resistance Value % Tolerance

II. Color the bands (4 bands) of each resistor to match their given resistance values.

120 Ω (±10%) 4.3 kΩ (±5%)

68 kΩ (±20%) 1.2 MΩ (±10%)

III. Color the bands (5 bands) of each resistor to match their given resistance values.

120 Ω (±10%) 4.3 kΩ (±5%)

68 kΩ (±20%) 1.2 MΩ (±10%)

I. Determine the resistance values of the resistors by reading the color bands and measuring using the
multimeter. Calculate for the difference and percent error between measured resistance values.

II. Construct your own circuit as directed using different combinations of resistors available. On the
blank breadboard diagram, draw (using a pencil) how the resistors are connected on your actual
breadboard. Label the resistors properly. Measure the experimental equivalent resistance of the
circuit using a multimeter. Calculate for the theoretical equivalent resistance of the circuit and the
percent error between theoretical and experimental values. Write complete solutions for full credit.
