Moxibustion
History of Moxibustion
 Moxibustion (Chinese: 灸
; pinyin: jiǔ) is a traditional
Chinese medicine therapy
using moxa, or mugwort
herb.
History of Moxibustion
 Moxibustion plays an important role in
the traditional medical systems of
China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Tibet,
and Mongolia.
Using Moxibustion
There are two types of using Moxa:
 (ii) Indirect Moxa
 Something is placed between the burning Moxa

and the skin: slices of Ginger, Garlic, Salt,
Aconite, Pepper, and mud.
Using Moxibustion
 The Moxa Stick is lit at one end and held about 1
inch from the skin, and burned for up to 15 minutes
or until the skin around the area is bright red.
Using Moxibustion
 Moxa stick can be self-administered or
administered by a professional therapist.

ancient theory of healing (moxibustion) and the
