Learning objectives:

- Given sentences containing new words taught in class, the pupils should be able to
identify and to spell them correctly.
- Given sentences containing grammar mistakes, the students should be able to identify
and correct the sentences in such way that they will be grammatically accurate.
- Given a speaking activity in which they will be asked some questions and they will have
to justify their answers, the students should be able to support a position in a group discussion.

Activity 1 - Organizational moment


Aim: To activate students' prior knowledge related to the topics encountered in the evaluation
lesson, to provide them with all the necessary explanations in order to clarify the tasks.
Procedure: The teacher enters the classroom, greets the students, announces the evaluation lesson
and proposes a revision activity in which they will clarify and rethink the already taught
knowledge. The teacher tells them that she has hidden some tricky questions in order to make
sure that/check if the students are conscious and devoted to studying English language. She will
also try to ask the students as many concept questions as she can.

Activity 2 - Didactic game - Pair Work


Aim: To enable students to interact with each other, to check students' knowledge related to the
topic.
Procedure: The teacher gives the instructions for this didactic game. The students will be required
to work in pairs of two as they are seated. Each pair of students will chose four tickets from a pile
from the teacher's desk. Each ticket contains a sentence which can be either right, either wrong
from any point of view (Annex 1). The first pair to start will receive from the teacher 2 signs: red
and green. If the sentence on their ticket is correct from any point of view, one of them has to
raise the green sign. If the sentence is wrong, one of them has to raise the red sign, to state and to
argument any correct alternative they offer. The teacher will also present the students the marking
scheme.

Activity 3 - Auto evaluation


Aims: To help students in having a better understanding upon their personal strong and weak
points.
Procedure: Pupils are required to calculate their score. They will be told that each correct answer
worth 5 points. The final score of each group will be written down by the teacher in her notebook
(0 points = grade 6, 5 points = grade 7, 10 = 8, 15 = 9, 20 = 10). These numbers will constitute
half of the final grade. The other half will be represented by the grade on pupils' portfolios. Each
missing work will mean -1 point from the maximum grade. The final grade will be the arithmetic
mean between the didactic game grade and the portfolio grade.

Activity 4 - Conclusions, partial results


Aim: To make them aware of their personal weaknesses and of their personal progress in learning
English.

Procedure: According to the final results, the teacher will state a general conclusion upon pupils'
progress and she will also propose some solutions to pupils' weak points. The strong points will
be congratulated and the weak points will require fixing suggestions.
