2010 Recent Virtusa Placement Latest Papers

Hi frnds,

I am Muni Sekhar from Sullurpet(Nellore Dt,AP). I am working in virtusa from 18th Jan 10. I would
like to share my selection process experience at virtusa with u.

I received hall ticket through e-mail from virtusa on 1st Dec afternoon and asked me to attend for the
written test on the next day. I came immediately to Hyd from my home town and i directly went to
westly school (near paradise,hyd) from secunderabad rly stn. Then i came to know that Merit Trac
people are conducting this exam. And 2000+ members attended the exam (only B.Tech CSE, B.Tech
CSIT, MCA) The merit trac people will check the 10th,Intermediate,UG/PG certificates and then allow
to the examination hall

The paper is about 2 and a half hour. It is for 120 marks. It has 5 sections in written exam itself.
It will have Verbal Ability, Apptitude, Mental & logical thinking Ability, Technical Qns (C,Unix),
Reading(Grasping) Ability. and the cutoff for the examnination is 65 marks i think.

In verbal ability::::::: They will give synonyms, antonyms, words( articles), correct the sentense's &
paragraph's etc.

In Apptitude:::::::::::: They will give easy qns. It will be easy if we are thorough with RSAgarwal

In Mental Ability::::::::They will try to confuse us, but if we r cool minded, we can do well

In Technical Ability::::: Unnecessary code will be given to waste time, do small things first and go for
huge codes and it will be easy as C,Unix will be in this round. But this round has more
weightage/marks. So concentrate on this round.

In Reading ability::::: we will be given a 3 page material and 10 minutes time to read that.The time
they will give for this round will not be sufficient, even though we have to do that. Then afterwards,
they will take the material and give us 10 qns on that material, we have to ans those qns by
rememberence.

Then after the exam, they told us that the results will be announced on monday(4th Dec) for the
people who are selected and for the people who are not selected also. But i didnt receive any mail
from them on monday, tuesday. Then on tuesday night i planned to go back to my native place within
2 days. On wednesday morning i received a mail asking to attend the further selection process of
virtusa. Please remember your roll number for the test.

I attended Group Discussion (Topic::: Should we ban mobile phones in school,colleges) and did well. I
started the discussion, did well (used all the GD tips,managerial skills etc)and ended it. Then I
attended the Technical round. It is two panel(male and female), male is Sr S/w Engg(SSE) and female
is QA(Testing) lead(QAL).

The first qns to me was "Tell me about yourself" (Routine qns any where) I answered it. Then the SSE
asked me to write a prog. I did it Then QAL asked me to explain few logics, i explained one logic in
routine way and the second logic in a different way. Then they asked me to explain the logic
elaboratedly. I explained it very well. then they got good imppression on me( i think).

Then they asked me few qns on C, oops concets etc and then the QAL asked me abt white box,black
box testing etc related to testing. i said that i dont know any thing abt testing. She asked me like
this.....

QAL:: If there are opening only in QA and if u were asked to join, Will u join QA?

Me:: I said yes (because i want a job, either development/QA)

QAL:: u dont know any thing abt testing and u are very well performing in languages etc, then will u
be able to learn the things so quickly in the training progs and can u deleiver us the expected
results??

ME:: yes, surely. As i said u, one among my strenghts are "fast learning ability". i can learn well in
training and will do well further also.

QAL:: ok fine, after one and a half year, if u are given flexibility to move towards development, will u
move or be in QA itself

Me: If that flexibility is given, i will move to development

QAL:: In this 1 and a half year u will be doing well in QA and u may be lagging in developmenta na?
then how will u be able 2 do well in development?

Me:: (I said a small ex, like this... i showed the door beside me and said like this..) Theif will unlock
the door without exact key. and if that thief is given a chance to prepare the lock and key, he will do it
perfectly in such a way that, no other theif can unlock it. Just like that if a tester comes to
development and writes a code, the code will be in such a way that no other tester can find any bugs
in it. So that way i can be a good developer, even though i ma with 1.5 yrs expereienced in testing
and away from development.

QAL,SSE::: ok thats really great ans.

QAL:: Do u have any qns to us?


Me:: i asked a small qns regarding hyd virtusa center (bcoz, we have ask qns, when we are given a
chance.That will say that we are eager to know things when we got a chance)

QAL:: replied.

Then after an hour they asked me to fill some buch of papers

Then i attended HR interview. It is one panel only

1st qns: HR(He is PM itseams):: Tell me abt yourself

Me:: (i said)

HR:: (he noted down the extracurricular, achievements, my web sites URL etc etc in the bunch of
papers, according to the columns in it, by moving on to page to page)
2nd qns: HR::What is your career objective?

Me:: (I said)

3rd qns: HR:: Do u have any qns to me?

Me:: Sir, how is my performance till now?

HR:: Well.......U've got selected man. (offered shake hand)

Me:: Thank you sir (Shake hand)

Then the Associate HR Exceutive came to me and asked me to collect my offer letter on 15th and on
15th i was asked to join on 18th.

totally out of 2000+ candidates, 100 to 110 are selected in written exam, out of them 63 are finally
selected and we are now in training. From 18th Dec to 18th Jan we 63 are trained on c+
+,unix,dbms,SE (induction classes, entertainment classes in between, lot of fun, games etc etc)and on
jan 18th we 63 are divided into Java, .Net,QA streams. now the training will be upto march ending ( I
think).

So to say abt virtusa... It is great to be here. we have good work culture, good package, good take
homes, quarterly paries etc etc, we celebrate our colleuges B'days etc and have fun all the time.

VIRTUSA PAPER ON 28th JUNE AT HYDERABAD

Hi, I am rakesh kumar from PRRM engineering college, Hyderabad . i had attended the test at
VIGNAN college of engineering , Hyderabad

Total attempted students=864


Students cleared written test=81
Students cleared tech interview=65
Final selected students are=46
With god grace I was one of the 46

It consists of 3 rounds
1) written test
2) tech interview
3) HR interview.
There is no GD

Written test consists of 5 sections


1) Analytical ability-20m,30min
2) Verbal ability.30m,20min
3) Attention to detail-20m,20min
4) Technical-40m 30min
5) Reading ability.-10m 20min

1st section is verbal ability it consists of


1) rc 5m
2) articles 10m
3) select appropriate meaning 5m
4) some stuff like find out errors 10m

Articles are very simple like names of large cities followes by in & villages by at just based on
this he asked 4 questions other also very simple We can get synonyms by context I think no
need to prepare for that. Errors also easy this paper is made by MERIT TRAC so you can
prepare questions from IBM also

2nd analytical ability is some what tough it has a cube prob


der r 3 cubes are placed horizontally and cutted into 64 (each cube) & den 1st one line (4*4)row
of second & 1st 2 rows of 3rd cube r removed & painted black all sides now que are
1) how many cubes r only 1 side painted
2) how many cubes r 2 sides painted
3) how many cubes r 3 sides painted
4) how many cubes r no side painted

and 2 probs on time & distance 1 started with a speed 20kmph &den 2 started after 30 min 1
when started with a speed of 25kmph and 3 started after how many min wit a speed 40kmph to
reach all 3 at same time?
Some thing like that bt easy
Attehtion to detail this is very easy section & que on decision making r some twisted be
prepared from R S aggarwal’s VERBAL reasoning. Der r some que based on binary numbers 5
prob r given $=1,*=0 then what is value of $$***$$/**$*$$$$ like this

Technical this is hardest in all sections we hav to do 40 q in 30 min & der r 10 progarammes
each of 1 ½ page length don’t do them first be prepare from DS especially from linkedlist&trees
most of d q r based on that
READING ability they given a 2 ½ page material on pipelining of microprocessors is given
followed by simple q s
They said there is sectional cutoff but I hav seen my answer paper & I got 76 out of 120 n der is
nothing abt sutoff marks on dat sheet

VIRTUSA PAPER PATTERN & INTERVIEW ON 3rd JULY 2007

Hai friends, I am sankilikumar (BE.ECE)from thigarajar college. engg.,madurai-15. its a off-


campus. totally 8 colleges. 415 students. first of all..BE CONFIDENCE with PATIENCE.
I attended for some companies previously. But i am still confident and tried and attempted for
all, so please be confident.

I Round :- Written Test ( conducted by METRIC Track)415 are attended. It is having 5 phases
of paper's .
(1) Verbal Ability --- synonyms,antonyms, articles, wrong sentense's, paragraph's.
(2) Apptitude Ability --- appitude questions from r.s.agarwal (regular)
(3) Mental Ability --- (very very very easy dont get confused)
(4) Technical Ability --- questions from C and datastructures (.SOLVE simple questions first
which may be present at the last.. be careful)
(5) Reading Ability --- they give a 3 pages document to read and understand and they take
back the paers and give us a question paper of abt 10 questions (read only once and very
carefully.. remember the key words and main theme of the document )

II Round :- Group Discussion (conducted by the HR Team)short listed 62


The topics given are very very casual. they just want to test whether every one is having their
own idea and are we able to talk when we are given a chance . After the announcement of the
short listed candidates from written test all of us are divided into groups each containing 10
members.
The GD topics are like:
cell phone band
wat
Politics,...etc

III Round :- Technical interview (short listed 47)


This is a bit tough round . the session lasted for about 45minut to 1 hour. be confident on the
subjects you are interested. about my all projects first...

I was asked to write the following programs and explain the logic:
Check whether the given number or a string is palindrome or not.
To print the number given in an integer form to the same in words like one for 1, two for 2 and
so on
Program to print the angle between the pointers in the wall clock when time is taken as input.
Can trees be implemented using arrays?
Some programs were given and I am asked for output.
when is the queue empty and when is it full.

I was asked two puzzles


About the inheritance in C++
Some questions on electronics like what is meant by diode, transistor, resistor, capacitor.
Why are you interested in s/w?

IV Round :- HR interview.
This is the Easiest Round we have to face. But be careful. Here the Key's to Success are
CONFIDENT and COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Be confident of wat u say. the questions are
regular like.....

The first question is tell me about yourself


Why do you need a job?
What is your place in the class?
Did you selected or attended in any company?
why sould we appoint u
y virtusa
happiest moment in ur life.
interests... hobbies...
dont be over confident. Be casual all the time. I am sorry that I have not remembered the
questions in written test.
The results were announced around 6.00pm and I felt tensed but at last I selected .totally 18
students r selected

hi friends, In our college we got "VITUSA" as seventh company...cut off is 65 for power branches and 70
for non it branches....
it directly means dat dey r not interested in non it studs...
tot attended------66
written qualified------16

h.r interview--------------10 luckily i am 1 among them

written will b 2 n haif hour u should play a very long innings

3)attension 2 details
4)c and data structures
5)essay digestion

der wil b individual cut off as well as total cutt of...two criteria should b fulfilled else u r out of race...i think
tot cut of is 60/120.

if u r eng medium studs no need 2 prepare 4 verbal its easy.....


quanti r.s. aggarwal is enough
articles,prepositions,identifying correct sentence n so so................
0 for $ n 1 for * questions n sorry i dont remember all....
4 attension 2 details never attempt + 4 - n * 4 / ques cause its time consuming better gor 4 easy ones...
4coming to C u have to perfect in data structures....each question will 1 and half page...u have 2 get de
correct output...
5)essay wil b given n u need to remember key points n after taking question paper questions will b
given........its "CPU PIPELINING" .its easy..

Tech interview:
for gods sake my panel is so cooperative n cool....he gave freedom to xpress wat i no..u cant clear tech
interview if r not good at data structures cause dese people r sound in data structures...just keep cool tell
confidently wat he asks. specially linked list programmes.....

VIRTUSA PAPER PATTERN & INTERVIEW On 21st JULY 2009 AT VIJAYAWADA

Hai friends,

I am raghava from P.B.Siddhartha college. got thru VIRTUSA coducted at VR.Siddhartha College
Vijayawada.

It is very cool yaar....i am very happy, beacuse i got the key for campus selections i.e CONFIDENCE
with PATIENCE.

I attended for 4 companies previously and didnt qualify for Written test. But i am still confident and
tried and attempted for all, where as my frnds who worried and didnt do the rest of the companies
well. so please be confident.

I Round :- Written Test ( conducted by METRIC Track)
It is having 5 phases of paper's just like Psychometric test. it is having very simple questions where
we should use our commonsense. dont worry abt the questions they are very easy .

(1) Verbal Ability --- synonyms,antonyms, articles, wrong sentense's, paragraph's.

(2) Apptitude Ability --- appitude questions from r.s.agarwal (regular)

(3) Mental Ability --- (very very very easy dont get confused) finding out the similar prononciation
words and decimal number's.)

(4) Technical Ability --- questions from C and UNIX (they eat away time ... plz attempt the small
questions first .. their main aim is to waste ur time .... so they give small questions at last be careful)

(5) Reading Ability --- they give a 3 pages document to read and understand and they take back the
paers and give us a question paper of abt 10 questions (read only once and very carefully.. because 3
papers in 10 min is tough.... remember the numbers and main key words and main theme of the
document )

II Round :- Group Discussion (conducted by the HR Team)

The topics given are very very casual. they just want to test whether every one is having their own
idea (it might be a single idea ) and are we able to talk when we are given a chance . please dont
copy the idea's .if u are also on the same idea just explain with current affair;s example . . our batch
consists of 8 members .we were given a topic called "BRAIN DRAIN" only 2 minutes for preparing and
just 10 minutes for the discussion of the topic . 600 seconds for 8 members's .... each member should
take only 75 seconds ( 600seconds /8members ) ... so i planned to interrupt into the discussion for 5
times and to talk for 15 seconds each time .

III Round :- Technical Interview (conducted by the HR Team)

This is a bit tough round . The interviewer asked about my Academic background and my interest on
subjects . He asked me the subjects i have covered in MCA course schedule and tried to cover all the
subjects with simple questions and testing our capability in answering the questions ...asked some live
examples for the answers. the session lasted for about 45 minutes. be confident on the subjects you
are interested.

IV Round :- HR Interview (conducted by the HR Team)

This is the Easiest Round we have to face. But be careful. Here the Key's to Success are CONFIDENT
and COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Be confident of wat u say. the questions are regular like.....

interests...... hobbies....... and a small problem on reasoning .......
His main Aim is to understand us by asking questions. so feel free to explore ur self to him in a good
way. dont be over confident. Be casual all the time. they ask questions relating to ur answer's after
some time ... so that to test whether u are telling truth or not. so be careful.

Try hard and do well for Selections. if u are Rejected dont get Disappointed. try the other company.
