The Indonesian government has declared Sail Banda 2010 a success.
This has led to the declaration of a similar event two years from now. Besides
taking the Banda Islands as an icon for the Sail Banda 2010, a similar event
would also use Morotai Island as the icon for Sail Morotai 2012. The plan
was submitted by the President himself in Ternate, North Maluku in August.
The President was in Ternate during his working visit for the inauguration of
Sail Banda 2010. In North Maluku, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
inaugurated Sofifi City as the capital of the North Maluku province. Morotai
Island is in the northernmost province of North Maluku. This island is the
outermost and adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. “Two years from now we will
have Sail Morotai, so let us plan well in order to succeed and advance,” said the
President to the applause of the people of Ternate. Let’s stay tuned for 2012.

One Hundred and Two in Shade is the 2010 record number of skalleagues and guests who enjoyed
a truly extraordinary lunch under the impressive high-top festive tent beachside on the lawn at breeze
at SAMAYA. GM Ray Clark, DSOM Ika Dunn and the rest of the six member Skal team at the SAMAYA
continue to top their own magic year after year. Chef and much more, Dean Keddell, produced a triumph of a
menu with duck, black Alaska cod and wow panna cotta. The staff’s attention and service were impeccable.
Cigar smokers and quite a few others lingered on well into the afternoon to enjoy the breeze at breeze.
We can’t wait for next October to see how the SAMAYA can top this year’s lunch.
