At this week’s sale 10,623 lots totaling 5,893,776 kgs were on offer.

QUALITY
Teas from the Western, Nuwaraeliya and Uva Udupusselawas were mostly similar to last.
Leaf appearance of low growns did not show any significant change.

CROP & WEATHER

Mostly bright weather conditions have been reported from the Western and Uva planting
regions, whilst rainy weather conditions have been reported from Nuwaraeliya and
Udupussellawa planting regions. Low growns planting districts experience mostly dry
weather. Moderate crops have been harvested from the Western and Nuwaraeliya planting
sectors. Low crops have been harvested from Uva Udupussellawa planting region, whilst
increased crops have been harvested from low grown planting districts.

Select best BOP1s shed Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-, whilst best types were mainly firm, below best and poorer sorts
maintained last levels.

Select best types were firm to irregularly lower by Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-, best types along with below best varities
were firm, poorer sorts gained by Rs 10/- to Rs 15/-.

Select best OPs eased Rs 10/- to Rs 20, whilst the balance were steady.

OPA
Select best types declined Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-, however best and below best varities appreciated Rs 10/- to Rs
20/-, poor sorts were irregularly dearer by Rs 5/- to Rs 10/-.

All PEK varities advanced Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-.

Shotty PEK1s were firm to irregularly dearer by Rs 5/- to Rs 10/-, whilst the balance were firm.

HIGH GROWN TEAS

Met with fair general demand and most teas on offer sold below last week levels.
BOP
Better western BOPs often declined Rs 10/- to Rs 25/- per kgs times more and often remain unsold. Teas in the
below best category shed Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-, plainer sorts bearly maintained last levels. Nuwaraeliya BOP ‘s
declined much as Rs 50/- to Rs 80/- per kg seen at times more. Clean leaf Uva udupusselawa;s were sold around
last levels whilst the others were irregular and were mostly lower to last.

BOPF
Only a small selections of better western BOPF held firm whilst the other high priced teas declined Rs 10/- to Rs
20/-, teas in the below best category to declined Rs 10/- to Rs 20/- even at times more. Plainer sorts too were
mostly lower to last. Nuwaraeliya BOPF shed RS 30/- to Rs 50/-, teas from the Udupusselawa’s were irregular.

Clean leaf bright liquoring FGSs were lower by Rs 10/- .Teas in best category were firm on last levels. Best BMs
were maintained at last week levels, whilst the teas in the below best category and the balance were mostly
gained in value. Most BPs maintained on last levels and below best and the balance were dearer by Rs 10/- to
Rs 20/- per kg and at times more. Select best BOP1A s’ were sold at firm rates, at times advanced by Rs 10/- to
Rs 20/- per kg. Below best teas too followed a similar trend. Poorer sorts gained by Rs 10/- to Rs 20/- and at
times more.
LOW GROWNS
Clean leaf Low Grown FGSs were sold at firm to dearer levels. Below best teas and the balance followed a
similar trend. Best BM’s were barely steady. Below best and the poorer sorts advanced by Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-
per kg. Select best BPs maintained, whilst the below best and poorer sorts gained in value. Best BOP1A were
sold at firm rate and at times were irregular. Below best teas and poorer sorts gained by Rs 20/- to Rs 30/- per
kg.

DUST1 / DUST
Clean leaf bright liquoring DUST1’s declined by Rs 5/- to Rs 10/- and at times more. Teas in the below best
category declined by Rs 20/- to Rs 30/- .Poorer types too followed a similar trend.

LOW GROWN
Clean leaf Low Grown DUST1’s maintained last week levels. Whilst the other high priced teas too held firm.
Clean leaf Low grown DUST’s gained by Rs 10/- to Rs 20/-.

CTC
Best teas were sold at firm to dearer levels. Below best types were lower by Rs 10/- to Rs 20/- . The Balance
maintained.

Western India – Active on liquoring teas. Other Internals and Packeters – Lending fair support. Exporters –
Selective.

KOLKATA SALE 52 HELD ON 26TH, 27TH , 28TH DECEMBER, 2018

CTC Leaf: There was good demand for select best and other brighter liquoring, clean Assams which sold at steady
rates. The remainder however, was irregular and easier closely following quality with brown, fibrous and plainer
liquoring description meeting with low interest.
