Environmental Scientist
 Reviewed and relayed stream assessments, water chemistry analyses, and environmental research concerning
the impact of our effluent on the receiving stream.
 Helped prepare for new EPA regulations and for environmental issues such as phosphorous removal, heavy
metals, and endocrine disruptors.
 Worked with local environmental groups as a liaison for the sewage treatment plant.
 Researched and monitored the effect of deicing salt on the chloride levels in the plant effluent and in the
receiving stream. Generating a report that documented the results and cited research about the harmful effects
of elevated chloride levels on native wetland plants. This helped facilitate the adoption of sugar beet juice as a
way to limit chloride additions to the local watershed.
 Performed a preliminary assessment of the receiving stream, Hickory Creek, and generated a presentation which
identified the tributaries, discharges, dump sites, land use, and areas in need of ecological restoration along the
creek.
 Monitored the effectiveness of the sludge digesting enzyme used in the excess flow lagoon and generated a
report stating our findings and a recommended course of action.
