and disorders such as degenerative disc disease which causes patient to experience

pain that may possibly lead to disability. They are work- related when the work activities

and work conditions significantly contribute to their development or exacerbation but are

not necessarily the sole determinant of causation. This study aims to identify the level of

problem encountered by the bagger based on their current system used in cutting the

plastic straw and the Weight of the load and the discomfort experience of the bagger

using RULA, Suzzane Rodgers and Nordic Musculoskeletal Disorder Questionnaire and

lastly, the course of action that can be done using the fixture design and the process

design wherein the researcher used the descriptive method of research and the

following data are collected through the help of reliable questionnaires to the chosen

respondents. Based on the data gathered during the survey, the researchers derived

the following results such as; majority of the respondents, works 6-10 years as bagger.

When it comes to the length of experience, 8 of them were serving 6-10 years as

bagger with a percentage of 44%, while both 1- 5 years and 11 years and above

garnered 5 respondents each with a same percentage of 28%. In terms of cutting plastic

straws by using scissors, 9 respondents answered that it is moderate with a percentage

of 50%. From the following results, the researchers conclude that all of the respondents
are male wherein majority of them belonged to the age bracket of 18-28 years old, with

6-10 years’ experience as bagger and are working 7 hours and above daily. The

respondents identified the level of problems encountered in cutting straws by using

scissors and using cutter, majority of the respondents indicated that the level of difficulty

for these tasks are under moderate with a percentage of 50% and 55.55% respectively.

Meanwhile, for cutting plastic straws by pulling it, respondents noted that the said task is

very hard with a total percentage of 33.33%. In the percentage of difficulty on weight of

the load, upon summarization of respondent’s responses’, researchers noted that a total

of 55.55% was rated with very severe pain for back pain and a total of 55.55% was

rated with severe pain for shoulder pain. Lastly, the wrist pain and upper arm pain, and

hip pain most of the respondents rated it under moderate pain with percentages of

44.44% and 61.11%, and 44.44% respectively. Using Rapid Upper Limb Assessment

(RULA) the researcher conclude that majority of the evaluated baggers’ upper arm are

located between the midrange and 20 to 45, the baggers’ lower arm/s are extended

beyond +90, majority of the baggers evaluated is on 0- 20 during bagging operations.

The baggers’ wrists are both on the 15- 15 and 15+ position and some of the evaluated

baggers’ leg is on straight position or extended. The researchers believe that if these

improper postures will continue to happen it will lead to certain cardiovascular disorders

to the baggers.
