The distributed CDMA base station provides exceptional deployment flexibility for operators facing physical
site constraints and site acquisition challenges, while lowering their power bills and reducing operating expenses.
The platform effectively separates baseband and radio frequency (RF) components into small baseband units and
remote radio heads (RRHs), allowing baseband and RRHs to be spaced miles apart. As a result, operators gain
a fast, easy way to provide seamless coverage for high-quality voice and high-speed data services. Locating
the high-efficiency RRHs closer to the antenna reduces power losses due to long feeder cables that attenuate
the signal and can reduce the number of sites needed. These methods offer a measurable reduction in power
consumption compared to traditional BTS products. The 9234 Base Station d2U Distributed is also part of the
CTIA award-winning Alcatel-Lucent Converged Base Station Portfolio that enables wireless operators evolving
to the next generation LTE technology with maximum equipment reuse.
