PRESS RELEASE

battenfeld-cincinnati and Greiner Extrusion supply ten

complete extrusion lines to Profilink, Bulgaria

High-tech window profile extrusion

lines for Bulgaria
With the assistance of an EU project, Profilink Ltd., based in
Plovdiv / Bulgaria, has now installed a total of ten new
high-tech extrusion lines for the production of profiles. By
this move, the PVC processor has not only increased its
production capacity by more than 30%, but also developed
into a model enterprise in south-eastern Europe - modern,
efficient and highly productive. The extrusion lines from the
two long-standing Austrian partners – battenfeld-cincinnati
Austria GmbH, Vienna and Greiner Extrusion GmbH, Nuss-
bach – have contributed to this achievement, since they
were able to fulfill the requirements in terms of energy effi-
ciency and performance.

Profilink has been producing PVC door and window profiles, roller
blind profiles, technical profiles as well as PVC granulates and
compounds in Bulgaria for some 20 years. As the market leader in
its home country, the processor with a workforce of more than 500
employees operates more than 20 subsidiaries and about 40 sales
offices worldwide. The plastics processor exports about 80% of its
products, primarily to neighboring countries, but also all over Eu-
rope. Since the installation of the ten new lines, Profilink has been
operating a total of 37 extrusion lines, more than half of which
have come from Austria. “Thanks to our previous positive experi-
ence with extrusion lines from battenfeld-cincinnati and Greiner
Extrusion, the choice wasn’t difficult for us this time. It was very
important to us to purchase state-of-the-art equipment which
combines maximum output with minimal energy consumption and
space requirements. We greatly appreciate the high quality of our
new machinery”, Jordan Fidanov, Managing Director at Profilink,
explains his decision in favor of battenfeld-cincinnati and Greiner
Extrusion.

In detail, the delivery included six parallel twin screw extruders

from the new twinEX 34D series and six conical twin screw extrud-
ers from the conEX series. Each of the coextrusion lines consists of
a twinEX 78 and a conEX 50 as coextruder. While the twinEX ex-
truders are used for the extrusion of window main profiles, Profi-
link manufactures smaller secondary profiles on the conEX lines.
Greiner Extrusion supplied the tooling and the downstream equip-
ment for the ten extrusion lines, all equipped with the innovative
GESS system (Greiner Energy Saving System). With its frequency-
controlled vacuum pumps, this system provides automatic, de-
mand-actuated regulation of the vacuum level in the dry calibra-
tion units and tanks. In combination with the closed-loop water
circuit, energy savings of 80% compared to conventional systems
are achieved. The delivery also included post-coextrusion equip-
ment (PCE units) for inline extrusion of sealing gaskets. These are
suitable for multi-purpose use to fit different profile geometries,
and are easy to operate. Profilink also ordered dies with coex core
technology, which make it possible to save up to 40% in material
costs in the production of 5-chamber window profiles.

Just like the tooling and downstream aggregates from Greiner Ex-
trusion, the extruders from battenfeld-cincinnati also meet every
demand in terms of productivity and energy efficiency. Thanks to
their processing unit, which has been extended to 34D, the twinEX
extruders reach 21% more output than their predecessor models
with 28D – and with absolute material flexibility, too. At the same
time, they stand out by their high energy efficiency, thanks to
maintenance-free AC drives, fully insulated processing units and
the Intracool screw tempering system. The conical extruders also
score with their reliable high quality. Thanks to the large volume
of the feed section, they can process regrinds without any prob-
lems. In the coextrusion models, the adjustable frame on which
the extruders are mounted offers a high degree of flexibility and
minimizes space requirements. Finally, a 17’’ touch display sup-
ports easy operation.
