Genesis Chapter 1 ‫אשית‬ ִׁ ‫ְּב ֵר‬

‫ אֵ ת‬,‫ בָּ ָּרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬,‫אשית‬

ִׁ ‫ א בְּ ֵר‬and the earth.
1 In the beginning God created the heaven

.‫ ואֵ ת הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬,‫הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם‬

1 En el principio Dios creó el cielo y la
tierra.

,‫ הָּ יתָּ ה תֹ הּו וָּבֹ הּו‬,‫ב והָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬

2 Now the earth was unformed and void,
and darkness was upon the face of the deep;
ְַּ ‫פנֵי תהֹום; ו‬-‫ עַל‬,‫וחֹ שֶ ְך‬
‫רּוח‬ and the spirit of God hovered over the face
of the waters.
.‫פנֵי הַ מָּ יִׁ ם‬-‫ מ ַרחֶ פֶת עַל‬,‫אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 2 Ahora la tierra estaba sin forma y vacía, y
la oscuridad estaba sobre la faz del abismo;
y el espíritu de Dios se cernía sobre la faz
de las aguas.

-‫ יהִׁ י אֹור; וַיהִׁ י‬,‫ג ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬

3 And God said: 'Let there be light.' And
there was light.
.‫אֹור‬ 3 Y dijo Dios: Hágase la luz; Y él fue
iluminado.

-‫ כִׁ י‬,‫הָּ אֹור‬-‫ד ַויַרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים אֶ ת‬ 4 And God saw the light, that it was
good; and God divided the light
‫ בֵ ין הָּ אֹור‬,‫טֹוב; ַויַבדֵ ל אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ from the darkness.
4 Y Dios vio la luz, que era bueno; y Dios
.‫ּובֵ ין הַ חֹ שֶ ְך‬ dividió la luz de la oscuridad.

,‫ה וַיִׁ ק ָּרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים לָּאֹור יֹום‬ 5 And God called the light Day, and
the darkness He called Night. And
‫ע ֶֶרב‬-‫ולַחֹ שֶ ְך קָּ ָּרא לָּילָּה; וַיהִׁ י‬ there was evening and there was
}‫ {פ‬.‫ יֹום אֶ חָּ ד‬,‫בֹ קֶ ר‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬
morning, one day. {P}
5 Y Dios llamó a la luz Día, y la oscuridad
llamó Noche. Y hubo tarde y hubo mañana,

ְּ,‫יהי ְּמַ ב ִׁדיל‬
ִׁ ִׁ‫ ְּו‬,‫ ְּי ִׁהי ְָּּרקִׁ י ַע ְּבתֹוְך ְּהַ מָּ יִׁ ם‬,‫ֱֹלהים‬
ִׁ ‫ ו ַוי ֹאמֶ ר ְּא‬6 And God said: 'Let there be a firmament in
.‫ בֵ יןְּמַ יִׁ םְּלָּמָּ יִׁ ם‬the midst of the waters, and let it divide the
waters from the waters.'
6 Y Dios dijo: 'Haya un firmamento en
medio de las aguas, y separe las aguas de
las aguas'.

,‫הָּ ָּרקִׁ י ְַּע‬-‫ אֶ ת‬,‫ז ַו ַיעַׂש אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 7 And God made the firmament, and
divided the waters which were under
‫ַויַבדֵ ל בֵ ין הַ מַ יִׁ ם אֲשֶ ר ִׁמ ַתְּחַ ת‬ the firmament from the waters which
‫ ּובֵ ין הַ מַ יִׁ ם אֲשֶ ר מֵ עַל‬,‫ל ָָּּרקִׁ י ְַּע‬ were above the firmament; and it
was so.
.‫כֵן‬-‫ל ָָּּרקִׁ י ְַּע; וַיהִׁ י‬ 7 E hizo Dios la expansión, y separó las
aguas que estaban debajo de la expansión
de las aguas que estaban sobre la
expansión; y fue así.

;‫ שָּ מָּ יִׁ ם‬,‫ח וַיִׁ ק ָּרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים ל ָָּּרקִׁ י ְַּע‬ 8 And God called the firmament
Heaven. And there was evening and
‫יֹום‬ ,‫בֹ קֶ ר‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬ ‫ע ֶֶרב‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬ there was morning, a second
}‫ {פ‬.‫שֵ נִׁ י‬
day. {P}
8 Y Dios llamó al firmamento Cielo. Y hubo
tarde y hubo mañana, un segundo día.

‫ יִׁקָּ וּו הַ מַ יִׁ ם‬,‫ט ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 9 And God said: 'Let the waters
under the heaven be gathered
,‫מָּ קֹום אֶ חָּ ד‬-‫ִׁמתַ חַ ת הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם אֶ ל‬ together unto one place, and let the
.‫כֵן‬-‫ הַ יַבָּ שָּ ה; וַיהִׁ י‬,‫ותֵ ָּראֶ ה‬
dry land appear.' And it was so.
9 Y Dios dijo: 'Júntense las aguas debajo de
los cielos en un lugar, y que aparezca la
tierra seca.' Y fue así.

,‫י וַיִׁ ק ָּרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים ַליַבָּ שָּ ה אֶ ֶרץ‬ 10 And God called the dry land
Earth, and the gathering together of
‫ּול ִׁמקוֵה הַ מַ יִׁ ם קָּ ָּרא י ִַׁמים; ַויַרא‬ the waters called He Seas; and God
.‫טֹוב‬-‫ כִׁ י‬,‫אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬
saw that it was good.
10 Y llamó Dios a la tierra seca, a la tierra,
y a la congregación de las aguas, llamados
mares; y Dios vio que era bueno.

‫ תַ דשֵ א הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬,‫יא ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 11 And God said: 'Let the earth put
forth grass, herb yielding seed, and
‫ עֵץ פ ִׁרי‬,‫דֶ שֶ א עֵׂשֶ ב מַ ז ִׁרי ְַּע ז ֶַרע‬ fruit-tree bearing fruit after its kind,
‫בֹו‬-‫ אֲשֶ ר זַרעֹו‬,‫עֹ ׂשֶ ה פ ִׁרי ל ִׁמינֹו‬
wherein is the seed thereof, upon the
earth.' And it was so.
.‫כֵן‬-‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ; וַיהִׁ י‬-‫עַל‬ 11 Y Dios dijo: 'Produzca la tierra hierba,
hierba que produzca semilla, y árbol frutal
que dé frutos según su especie, en los cuales
haya semilla, sobre la tierra'. Y fue así.

‫יב וַתֹוצֵ א הָּ אָּ ֶרץ דֶ שֶ א עֵׂשֶ ב‬ 12 And the earth brought forth grass,
herb yielding seed after its kind, and
-‫ ועֵץ עֹ ׂשֶ ה‬,‫ ל ִׁמינֵהּו‬,‫מַ ז ִׁרי ְַּע ז ֶַרע‬ tree bearing fruit, wherein is the seed
thereof, after its kind; and God saw
‫ ל ִׁמינֵהּו; ַויַרא‬,‫בֹו‬-‫פ ִׁרי אֲשֶ ר זַרעֹו‬ that it was good.
12 Y la tierra produjo hierba, hierba que da
.‫טֹוב‬-‫ כִׁ י‬,‫אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ semilla según su género, y árbol que da
fruto, en donde está la simiente de ella,
según su especie; y Dios vio que era bueno.

‫יֹום‬ ,‫בֹ קֶ ר‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬ ‫ע ֶֶרב‬-‫יג וַיהִׁ י‬ 13 And there was evening and there
was morning, a third day. {P}
}‫ {פ‬.‫ישי‬ ִׁ ִׁ‫של‬ 13 Y hubo tarde y hubo mañana, un tercer
día. {PAG}

‫ יהִׁ י מאֹ רֹ ת‬,‫יד ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 14 And God said: 'Let there be lights
in the firmament of the heaven to
‫ בֵ ין‬,‫ להַ ב ִׁדיל‬,‫בִׁ רקִׁ י ְַּע הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם‬ divide the day from the night; and let
‫הַ יֹום ּובֵ ין הַ לָּילָּה; והָּ יּו לאֹ תֹ ת‬
them be for signs, and for seasons,
and for days and years;
.‫ ּולי ִָּׁמים ושָּ נִׁ ים‬,‫ּולמֹוע ֲִׁדים‬ 14 Y Dios dijo: 'Haya luces en la expansión
de los cielos para separar el día de la
noche; y sean por señales, y por estaciones,
y por días y años;

,‫טו והָּ יּו לִׁ מאֹורֹ ת בִׁ רקִׁ י ְַּע הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם‬ 15 and let them be for lights in the
firmament of the heaven to give light
.‫כֵן‬-‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ; וַיהִׁ י‬-‫להָּ ִׁאיר עַל‬ upon the earth.' And it was so.
15 y sean para las luces en la expansión de
los cielos para alumbrar sobre la tierra”. Y
fue así.

‫שנֵי‬-‫ אֶ ת‬,‫טז ַו ַיעַׂש אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 16 And God made the two great
lights: the greater light to rule the
‫הַ מָּ אֹור‬-‫ אֶ ת‬:‫הַ מאֹ רֹ ת הַ גדֹ לִׁ ים‬ day, and the lesser light to rule the
-‫ ואֶ ת‬,‫ למֶ משֶ לֶת הַ יֹום‬,‫הַ גָּדֹ ל‬
night; and the stars.

,‫הַ מָּ אֹור הַ קָּ טֹ ן למֶ משֶ לֶת הַ לַילָּה‬

.‫ואֵ ת הַ כֹוכָּבִׁ ים‬
‫ בִׁ רקִׁ י ְַּע‬,‫יז וַיִׁ תֵ ן אֹ תָּ ם אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 17 And God set them in the
firmament of the heaven to give light
.‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫ עַל‬,‫ להָּ ִׁאיר‬,‫הַ שָּ מָּ יִׁ ם‬ upon the earth,
,‫ בַ יֹום ּובַ לַילָּה‬,‫יח ולִׁ משֹ ל‬ 18 and to rule over the day and over
the night, and to divide the light
;‫ בֵ ין הָּ אֹור ּובֵ ין הַ חֹ שֶ ְך‬,‫ּולהַ ב ִׁדיל‬ from the darkness; and God saw that
.‫טֹוב‬-‫ כִׁ י‬,‫ַויַרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬
it was good.

‫יֹום‬ ,‫בֹ קֶ ר‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬ ‫ע ֶֶרב‬-‫יט וַיהִׁ י‬ 19 And there was evening and there
was morning, a fourth day. {P}
}‫ {פ‬.‫רבִׁ יעִׁ י‬
,‫יִׁ שרצּו הַ מַ יִׁ ם‬--‫כ ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 20 And God said: 'Let the waters
swarm with swarms of living
-‫שֶ ֶרץ ֶנפֶש חַ יָּה; ועֹוף יעֹופֵף עַל‬ creatures, and let fowl fly above the
.‫פנֵי רקִׁ י ְַּע הַ שָּ מָּ יִׁ ם‬-‫ עַל‬,‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬
earth in the open firmament of
heaven.'

‫הַ תַ נִׁ ינִׁם‬-‫ אֶ ת‬,‫כא וַיִׁ ב ָּרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 21 And God created the great sea-
monsters, and every living creature
‫ ֶנפֶש הַ חַ יָּה‬-‫הַ גדֹ לִׁ ים; ואֵ ת כָּל‬ that creepeth, wherewith the waters
swarmed, after its kind, and every
‫הָּ רֹ מֶ ׂשֶ ת אֲשֶ ר שָּ רצּו הַ מַ יִׁם‬ winged fowl after its kind; and God
‫עֹוף ָּכנָּף‬-‫ ואֵ ת כָּל‬,‫ל ִׁמינֵהֶ ם‬ saw that it was good.
.‫טֹוב‬-‫ כִׁ י‬,‫ ַויַרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬,‫ל ִׁמינֵהּו‬
,‫אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ ‫אֹ תָּ ם‬ ‫כב וַיבָּ ֶרְך‬ 22 And God blessed them, saying:
'Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the
-‫ּומלאּו אֶ ת‬ ִׁ ,‫ פרּו ּורבּו‬:‫לֵאמֹ ר‬ waters in the seas, and let fowl
.‫ יִׁ ֶרב בָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬,‫ והָּ עֹוף‬,‫הַ מַ יִׁ ם בַ י ִַׁמים‬
multiply in the earth.'

‫יֹום‬ ,‫בֹ קֶ ר‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬ ‫ע ֶֶרב‬-‫כג וַיהִׁ י‬ 23 And there was evening and there
was morning, a fifth day. {P}
}‫ {פ‬.‫ישי‬ ִׁ ‫ח ֲִׁמ‬
‫ תֹוצֵ א הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬,‫כד ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 24 And God said: 'Let the earth bring
forth the living creature after its
‫ בהֵ מָּ ה ו ֶָּרמֶ ׂש‬,‫ֶנפֶש חַ יָּה ל ִׁמינָּּה‬ kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and
.‫כֵן‬-‫ ל ִׁמינָּּה; וַיהִׁ י‬,‫אֶ ֶרץ‬-‫וחַ יתֹו‬
beast of the earth after its kind.' And
it was so.
‫חַ יַת הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫כה ַו ַיעַׂש אֱֹלהִׁ ים אֶ ת‬ 25 And God made the beast of the
earth after its kind, and the cattle
‫ ואֵ ת‬,‫הַ בהֵ מָּ ה ל ִׁמינָּּה‬-‫ ואֶ ת‬,‫ל ִׁמינָּּה‬ after their kind, and every thing that
‫ ל ִׁמינֵהּו; ַויַרא‬,‫ ֶרמֶ ׂש הָּ אֲדָּ מָּ ה‬-‫כָּל‬
creepeth upon the ground after its
kind; and God saw that it was good.
.‫טֹוב‬-‫ כִׁ י‬,‫אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬
‫ ַנעֲׂשֶ ה אָּ דָּ ם‬,‫כו ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 26 And God said: 'Let us make man
in our image, after our likeness; and
‫בצַ למֵ נּו כִׁ דמּותֵ נּו; ויִׁ רדּו בִׁ דגַת‬ let them have dominion over the fish
‫ ּובַ בהֵ מָּ ה‬,‫הַ יָּם ּובעֹוף הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם‬
of the sea, and over the fowl of the
air, and over the cattle, and over all
,‫הָּ ֶרמֶ ׂש‬-‫ּובכָּל‬ ,‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫ּובכָּל‬ the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creepeth upon the earth.'
.‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫הָּ רֹ מֵ ׂש עַל‬
‫הָּ אָּ דָּ ם‬-‫כז וַיִׁ ב ָּרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים אֶ ת‬ 27 And God created man in His own
image, in the image of God created
‫ בצֶ לֶם אֱֹלהִׁ ים בָּ ָּרא‬,‫בצַ למֹו‬ He him; male and female created He
.‫ בָּ ָּרא אֹ תָּ ם‬,‫ ָּזכָּר ּונקֵ בָּ ה‬:‫אֹ תֹו‬
them.

‫ ַוי ֹאמֶ ר‬,‫ אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬,‫כח וַיבָּ ֶרְך אֹ ְָּּתם‬ 28 And God blessed them; and God
said unto them: 'Be fruitful, and
‫ּומלאּו‬ ִׁ ‫לָּהֶ ם אֱֹלהִׁ ים פרּו ּורבּו‬ multiply, and replenish the earth, and
‫ וכִׁ בשֻׁ ְָּּה; ּורדּו בִׁ דגַת‬,‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫אֶ ת‬ subdue it; and have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the fowl
,‫חַ יָּה‬-‫ ּובכָּל‬,‫ ּובעֹוף הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם‬,‫הַ יָּם‬ of the air, and over every living thing
.‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫הָּ רֹ מֶ ׂשֶ ת עַל‬
that creepeth upon the earth.'

‫ הִׁ נֵה נָּתַ ִׁתי‬,‫כט ַוי ֹאמֶ ר אֱֹלהִׁ ים‬ 29 And God said: 'Behold, I have
given you every herb yielding seed,
‫עֵׂשֶ ב זֹ ֵר ְַּע ז ֶַרע אֲשֶ ר‬-‫כָּל‬-‫ָּלכֶם אֶ ת‬ which is upon the face of all the
‫הָּ עֵץ‬-‫כָּל‬-‫ ואֶ ת‬,‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫פנֵי כָּל‬-‫עַל‬
earth, and every tree, in which is the
fruit of a tree yielding seed--to you it
‫זֹ ֵר ְַּע‬ ,‫עֵץ‬-‫פ ִׁרי‬ ‫בֹו‬-‫אֲשֶ ר‬ shall be for food;

.‫ לאָּ כלָּה‬,‫ ָּלכֶם יִׁ היֶה‬:‫ז ַָּרע‬

‫עֹוף‬-‫חַ יַת הָּ אָּ ֶרץ ּולכָּל‬-‫ל ּולכָּל‬ 30 and to every beast of the earth,
and to every fowl of the air, and to
,‫הָּ אָּ ֶרץ‬-‫הַ שָּ מַ יִׁ ם ּולכֹ ל רֹומֵ ׂש עַל‬ every thing that creepeth upon the
‫י ֶֶרק‬-‫כָּל‬-‫ אֶ ת‬,‫בֹו ֶנפֶש חַ יָּה‬-‫אֲשֶ ר‬
earth, wherein there is a living soul,
[I have given] every green herb for
.‫כֵן‬-‫ לאָּ כלָּה; וַיהִׁ י‬,‫עֵׂשֶ ב‬ food.' And it was so.

‫אֲשֶ ר‬-‫כָּל‬-‫לא ַויַרא אֱֹלהִׁ ים אֶ ת‬ 31 And God saw every thing that He
had made, and, behold, it was very
‫ע ֶֶרב‬-‫טֹוב מאֹ ד; וַיהִׁ י‬-‫ והִׁ נֵה‬,‫עָּׂשָּ ה‬ good. And there was evening and
}‫ {פ‬.‫ יֹום הַ ִׁש ִׁשי‬,‫בֹ קֶ ר‬-‫וַיהִׁ י‬
there was morning, the sixth day. {P}
