I WILL WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH

John 4:21-24
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh,
when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem,
worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know
what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour
cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship
the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such
to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship
him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Worship entails wholeheartedness and truthfulness. Jesus
said he is the way, truth and life (John 14:6) and therefore
truthful worship must be the way Jesus and his followers
worshipped GOD. After the earthly ministry of Jesus, the
Apostles maintained the way he taught them to worship
GOD and they warned the disciples that false teachers will
come and teach them otherwise. The Apostles themselves
fought and died for the faith.
The Apostles kept the Sabbath; celebrated Passover on the
14th of Nisan, and not Easter; celebrated Pentecost alongside
the Jewish Pentecost and not on a Sunday; did not celebrate
Christmas; and they were zealous for the law.
After the death of Apostle John (the writer of John Gospel,
the three Epistles of John and the book of Revelation) in the
early second century, the Gentile Roman Church:
1. Changed Sabbath observance to Sunday worship in the
Second century
2. Began the practice of Sunday Easter ceremony and
condemn the observance of Passover by Christians
worldwide
3. With the support of Emperor Constantine in the 4th
century, made Sabbath observance, keeping of
Passover and anything relating to Jewish God-given
practices an offence punishable by law. Many devout
faithful Christians were killed by the State and Church.
4. Influenced Christianity through its philosophy, pagan
worship, traditions and practices. The mainstream
church revealed itself as the great prostitute
prophesied in Revelations 17. She has been intoxicating
the inhabitants of the earth with the wine of her
adulteries (Rev. 17:2). She is Babylon and is drunk with
the blood of the Saints who bear the testimony to Jesus
(Rev. 17:6).
In Rev. 17, it is foretold that the people intoxicated by
the Church will bring her to ruin and leave her naked
(vs. 16). That is already happening as governments
promoted by the Church are now writing new laws
against that influenced by the church. The legalization
of divorce, gay marriage, increasing secularization of
state, e.t.c. are examples.
In Rev. 18, the faithful are charged to come out of her so
that they will not share in her sins and receive any of her
plagues (Rev. 18:4).
What does coming out of her mean?
1. Live by and uphold the word of GOD only and forsake
the traditions of the fallen church.
2. Live daily contending for the faith that was once
delivered to the Saints (Jude 3)
3. Return to Sabbath observance in its true spiritual sense
4. Shun Sunday Easter celebration and partake in
Passover as remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice by
Jesus Christ for us
5. Stay away from Christmas celebration of December 25
6. Uphold the Apostles Creed as complete and adequate
for the Christian faith
7. Share fellowship with others who are ready to live by
the word of GOD only.
This is my personal resolve and I will begin immediately to
take steps to live by them.
The concluding words of Jude are sufficient as final word
here:
Jude 17-25
But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken
before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they
told you there should be mockers in the last time, who
should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they
who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But
ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of
God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto
eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a
difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the
fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto
him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you
faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty,
dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
GOD bless you.
