b) Issues, Events and Challenges faced by Digi.

The second issues faced by Digi is due to the digital disruption caused by the internet
giants such as Google, Skype, and Whatsapp. They actually poses threats to many incumbent
business for instance Telecommunication business. Having to face these internet giants in the
current modernisation era has indeed proven to be a great obstacle in itself. This leads
towards Digi gradually declining in their business. Even though, it is not an easy feat, Digi
did not lose hope and further strikes back with their innovations and intellectual strategies.
They had adapt into the environment and becoming more like internet companies in order to
compete with them.

Digi started to realize this problem was during the middle 2015, in that period of time
they know that they could not just stand there without doing anything and have to innovate
their products and services to compete with the Internet Giants. After one year of innovations
they came with Digi-X something that will help them position themselves to a better
opportunities in the digital and internet of things space. Albern, who was the CEO of Digi
says that Digi needs to embrace the digital revolution and bring the market what consumers
wants in the internet age.

Digi has been trying to further expand their services into financial technology or
better known as fintech and also analytics to add value to their business. It was quoted by the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digi that they had already went through multiple phases of
aggressively growing our customer using innovation and network expansion. They are not
afraid to embrace innovation to offer simplicity and value proposition to their customers.

Other than the Digital space, Digi has also expand their telecommunications spectrum
by venturing into the postpaid segment. It is stated that they are shifting their gears to take
advantages of the digital boom. Albern, the CEO said, it’s more towards on what’s next that
they can do and in the meantime explore more ways to do more. All this while venturing into
new space, while still did not forget to grow their core business.

Experts has said that Telco companies that are slow to embrace the Digital revolution
are being pressured by the Internet Giants and are dubbed as “pipe suppliers”. They also add
that Telco companies that are able to keep up with the digital revolution will be able to reap
many advantages from it and their profits are seen to grow significantly.
