This study utilized the Descripted Research Design that focuses in identifying the Social Media Activities

of the Grade 12 Pre-baccalaureate Maritime Specialization Students. Specifically, the reasons, effects,
and the significant difference that exists in the extent of their Social Media Activities. The study focused
on the 188 Grade 12 Pre-baccalaureate Maritime Specialization Students of John B. Lacson Colleges
Foundation-Bacolod Inc. The researchers used a self-made survey questionnaire and focus group
discussion to answer the objectives of the study. The results and findings of the study revealed that
there is a high extent on social media activities of the Grade 12 students with an overall mean of 3.65. In
terms on the effects of social media, the results were tallied and ranked and the study revealed the
most frequent effects. In terms of the reasons why the students access social media sites, the study
found out three reasons which is they access social media in gathering information, entertainment, and
use it as a communication tool. And in terms on the significant difference of the social media activities
that exists in every sections, the results showed that there is indeed a significant difference. The study
concluded that Social Media can be an essential tool that can be used in different aspects. And also,
Social Media can affect the psychological behavior, family relationships, health, and academic behavior
of the students.
