Ariana Eunjung Cha, “Cloning advance using stem cells from human adult reopens

ethical questions,” The Washington Post, 17 April 2014 to raise questions about how ethical

human cloning is. For many scientist in the Stem Research Department, they have found a

breakthrough discovery of Human Cloning. Scientists across the globe have found out how to

reprogram a cell and give it life again. The purpose of the human cloning discoveries was to

create a baby embryo with the same genetic makeup as the donor. Cloning for many families

would bring joy, because it could help them create a loved one they have lost. With a creation

this powerful, there are many questions on how the technology will be used and what happens if

it were to be placed in the wrong hands. Many countries have ban human cloning because of the

ethical questions that come with it. Some countries won’t even allow for human cloning research

in general.

The purpose of this article is to help answer questions about how the technology of

human cloning will change society forever. The audience of this article would be the general

public. It is written to the public because it will be effecting everyone’s lives. There will be who

support the idea and people who will be completely against the idea of human cloning. The

world as a whole has come a long way with the creation of technology. With this article be

written in 2014, it just goes to show how much the world has advanced and how much it will

continue to advance. With the furthering advances of the human cloning studies, it is going to

lead to many good and bad things that the world may or may not be ready for.

The writer is Ariana Cha. She would be considered a credible author because she is a

national reporter. She has had to search all around the country to find the correct answers to the

questions that the public would be asking when they hear the news of what is going on around
Keseday 2
them. She was also Washington Post’s former bureau chief in Shanghai and San Francisco. Cha

is able to provide adequate information in the article because she went and talked to many

scientists in the research area of stem research and scientist in the study of genetics. She had to

research information about human cloning for many hours. The sources are reliable because

many of the scientists that Cha interviewed, have been studying in their field of area for many

years.

I will be able to use this in my research paper because it will be able to give my answers

on how scientists feel about human cloning. The scientists that have been interview in the article

will help give more insight on what still needs to be researched. They will be able to provide

information on some of the pros and cons of human cloning.

Cemal Alper Kemaloglu, and Fatih Birtek, “A General Evaluation of Stem Cell Studies and

Human Cloning from the Ethical, Faith, and Legal Perspective,” Turkish Journal of Plastic

Surgery, January 2019, to help inform people how Human cloning will change society. Many of

the advances in human cloning have been because of the technology to grow missing limbs.

Scientists for a long time have been trying to develop technology to help regrow limbs in patients

that have lost them due to a chronic illness or a deadly disease. There are still many questions

that need to be answered on how the cells should be used. Many of the stem cells are being used

for skin rejuvenation, cosmetic breast augmentation, overcoming wound healing difficulties,

recovery from local, tissue ischemia, scar remodeling, and skin engineering. Since many of

these practices are being used, doctors and the government have found out that there are
Keseday 3
consequences that sometimes follow. Governments around the globe are trying to find ways to

help regulate the possibilities of things going wrong by setting guidelines and rules that doctors

and researchers must follow.

The purpose of this article is help inform the public about how there needs to be

guidelines followed to help keep the public safe. If the rules are not followed by doctors and

researchers, then there could be severe consequences. The audience of this article is the other

doctors and scientists. Where it was written affected the words that the author using words that

are more scholarly. The author is able to use more medical term of words that only most doctors

and researchers know.

The authors of this article are Cemal Alper Kemaloglu, and Fatih Birtek. They would

both be considered credible because they are both doctors and are professors at Erciyes

University in Turkey. They both study in the department of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Which gives them lots of knowledge on how the human heals and how stem cells are able to

heal themselves when damaged. The sources in the article are adequate because they provide

views from doctors that are in the plastic surgery field. The doctors are able to give lots of

information about things that need to be done in order to successfully be able to use cloning in

the future for the public use.

I will be able to use this source in my research paper because it provides information on

what possible uses cloning can help with right now. The article is able to list things that need to

happen in order to safely use human cloning. Lastly, I will be able to find out what the legal

issues of human cloning will be.

David Hunter, “Cloning monkeys for research puts humans on a slippery ethical slope”, The

Conversion, 1 February, 2019 to test whether or not researchers should toy with the idea if using

animals for human cloning research. There would be lots of diseases that that would be studied

further and with the help of animals they would be able to provide lots of information through

the clones. When the monkeys were cloned it created many problems for them like, reduced

sleep, increased anxiety and depression. The monkeys also delepoved abnormal hormone levels

in them. If cloning were being tested on humans, then people would not have the same reaction

they do on it being tested on the monkeys. People need to also think of the monkeys as beings

that have feelings and animals with families also instead of them just be test subjects.

The purpose of this article is too allow readers to decide for themselves if it is ok for

research to be done on animals. It provides information about the downside of research being

done on monkeys and other animals around the world. People learn how it really test the lines

between what is ok to test with animals and what is not ok. The article looks at the good things

that testing being done on animals also provides. Ultimately the readers decide what they think is

best between gaining more knowledge and if we should allow the animals to live in peace.

The author David Hunter is a credible author because goes out and interviews the

scientist first-hand. He gets to witness for himself the positive and negatives of testing on

animals. The sources in the article are adequate because the scientist are working with the

animals personally. They are able to provide information about all the research that is being

done in their laboratory.

I will be able to use this article in my research paper to help me with the ethical aspects

of human cloning. The article provides great information about how testing affects the animals. I
Keseday 6
was able to learn how there is many issues that can be created because of animal testing to help

further the studies for research purposes.

Nestor Micheli Morales, “Psychological Aspects of Human Cloning and Genetic Manipulation:

The Identity and Uniqueness of Human Beings”, RBMO Journal, 1 March 2009 to explain what

would happen to our minds if we all weren’t different. Since everyone is made differently,

human cloning will forever change the way we view ourselves. People are meant to have

different characteristics, so that we can tell each other apart. Even though people want to clone a

loved one that they have lost, that clone would not have the same characteristics of the loved

one. It is easy to make something look the same, but to have a smile, a sneeze, or even a cough to

be the exact is almost impossible. There have been many studies done on twins on how they

interact with each other, but human cloning interaction will be a tough to study.

The purpose of this article is help provide the readers more insight on how difficult it will

be to clone people’s characteristics. Everyone is born different and because of that no one laughs

the same, talks the same, or even walks the same way. The reason that people are born

differently is, so that everyone stands apart and that no one looks that exact same to each other.

Cloning is easy to perfect on a physical level, but on an emotional or individuality level it is

difficult to achieve.

The author is Nestor Morales is a credible author because he is a clinical and

psychotherapist in Brussels. He is also a specialist in psychotherapy. Nestor Morales specializes

in Individual Psychotherapy, Couples Counseling, Personal Life Coaching, and Executive

Coaching. The sources in this article are adequate because they are children that the scientist

have been working with closely and following their results. The author would also be a adequate

source because he has had many years in studying the brain.

I will be able to use this in my final research paper because the information in this article

helps provide information from a psychologists’ perspective. I am able to learn about how

everyone needs to be different for a reason. I am also able to use the information about the

studies that have been done on the twins to help me.

Philip Ball, “ How afraid of human cloning should we be?” The Guardian, 25 January 2018, it is

about how difficult it would be to clone an adult even though we have the technology. When

Dolly the Sheep was first cloned it was a breakthrough for scientist. Scientist around the globe

were later able to clone dogs, cats, pigs, and other mammals. Since birth of Dolly of the Sheep

scientist have been able to clone monkeys to help study human diseases like Alzheimer's. With

the help of IVF, it has helped scientists get over some of the ethical issues. Since one bold person

decided that they wanted a baby that they could customize without giving it birth defects, it has

lead to people going further into the development of human cloning. It has taken several tries to

perfect even IVF and with that it has caused scientist to be cautious of human cloning and how

they would be able to study it without damaging an animal or human.

The purpose of this article is help give the public information about the advancement of

human cloning. Readers have learned from the article all the mammals that have been cloned.

Since the advancement of IVF in the medical field, it has lead people to be bolder and ask for

things that cross the ethical boundaries. The readers are able to learn about the difficulty it was to

perfect all the animal clonings. IVF has lea to people wanting animals and even their children to

be born close to perfection.

The author of this article is credible because he is a science writer. He has written many

articles and books relating to the topic of human cloning. The sources that Philip Ball used in his
Keseday 8
articles are all adequate because he talked to scientists in the Institute of Neuroscience in

Shanghai. He was also able to go and see the monkeys in the institution for himself.

I will be able to use this article because it provides great information about how

technology has brought us so far with human cloning. Although we do have the technology to

clone someone, the questions will be how safe will it be and how successful will the outcome be?

The Center of Bioethics, “ Human Cloning”, The Center of Bioethics and Culture Network, 15

June 2017, it is about how there is many different types of cloning and they all used differently.

The three different of cloning are recombinant DNA technology, reproductive cloning, and

therapeutic cloning. Reproductive cloning is used to create an egg that is fertilized by shock in a

donors body. The therapeutic cloning that is used that used it to help scientist study human

embryos for scientific research purposes. In some severe cases, the cloned embryos would result

in death, deformity, and disabilities in animal clones. There are still questions being asked, like “

What about the children that are cloned?”, or “ who is socially responsible for cloned humans?”

The purpose of the article is to establish that there are still many questions that need

answered about human cloning. The authors is able to provide information about all the different

types of human cloning and what they are being used for.. From the article readers are able to

learn about a lot of the negatives that could happen if something went wrong with human

cloning.

The authors The Center of Bioethics are credible because they write articles that involve

human genomes and study stem cells. The authors are scientist themselves and are able to
Keseday 9
provide the data and research from themselves. The sources in the article would be the authors

because they have found out all the information about cloning themselves. They work closely

with other scientist around the world and are able to compare their results to make their findings

more accurate.

I will be able to use this article in my final research paper because it provides great

information about all the different types of cloning that is used. It will also be able to help give

me more information about the negative things of human cloning.
