Jemma has two parents, one mother, and one father, Jessica and Jose and they are
married. The mother is 25 and the father is 27. They are both Hispanic, and they are considered
“middle class”. Both Jessica and Jose knew that they wanted to have children and start their
family but, they wanted to first be financially stable. They are a military family so they are
consistently moving all around the world and country. They do have social support like their
family and friends. Jessica knows that she has a strong cohort because she lives in a military
home where their community is all military homes where everyone understands what everyone is
going through (Berger, pg12). Jessica works as an interior designer, this way she can have clients
no matter where she moves to. Jose is healthy and has had no medical scares, Jessica, however,
was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Jessicas and Jose behavior, when they
found out she was pregnant, was that they were both very excited and felt like they were ready.
The situation surrounding the pregnancy was that Jessica had a difficult time getting pregnant
and was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of months after she was diagnosed and put on the correct
medication.
Once Jessica was pregnant she knew her baby life was beginning with the process of a
zygote which is the process that all humans have gone through. (Berger, pg 48). Throughout
Jessica's pregnancy, Jose went to all ultrasounds and was helping throughout the whole
pregnancy. Once Jessica had finished her ninth week she knew that the babies sex organs were
complete grown (Berger, pg 60). That was when they found out the sex of their baby, which they
learned they were having a baby girl. When Jessica was 38 weeks pregnant the fetal brain signals
were released of hormones to start labor (Berger, pg 61). Jessica wanted to have a natural birth
however about 7 hours into the birth she was in too much pain and knew she wanted an epidural

to help with the pain. During the ninth hour, the baby’s head moved into the “birth canal” then
the baby’s head moved through the opening of the vaginal (the baby’s head “crowns”) then the
emerges completely, and then the placenta comes out (Berger, pg 63). This was occurring when
she was pushing. Jessica was in birth for about 10 hours. After Jemma was born Jessica was
afraid she was going to suffer from postpartum depression, she had read that many women had
gone through deep sadness (Berger, pg 68). During Jessica’s pregnancy, Jose experienced weight
gain which they both knew would be normal since some men “experience pregnancy” (Berger,
pg 69). When Jemma was born she had a regular birth weight. Once Jemma was born, Jessica
and Jose knew they wanted to practice co-sleeping for the first couple of years (Berger, pg 92).
As Jemma grows Jessica and Jose don’t want their daughter to experience pruning so they are
constantly teaching their daughter and making sure the pathways she had made don’t prune
(Berger, pg 96). Jemmas senses are growing amazingly. Jessica and Jose know that
immunization is very important and they know that they are going to immunize their daughter
(Berger, 107). Since Jessica knew she was pregnant she knew she was going to breastfeed
because of the nurturance that Jemma would have (Berger 109). When Jemma was a toddler, her
parents would call her a “little scientist” because of all the curiosity that she had (Berger 116).
Jemmas information processing is amazing and you can see the analysis that she makes when she
is thinking (Berger 117). When you would talk to Jemma you couldn’t get her to stop talking
she would always talk even when she was babbling, and when she did start talking in sentences
her grammar was alright (Berger 121). Once Jemma was old enough she started daycare, Jessica
was afraid that Jemma would suffer from separation anxiety since this was the first time she
would away from mom and dad and with a stranger (Berger, 130). However, after a couple of
months, Jemma developed a secure attachment with her caregiver's (Berger,140). As for
Perez Vega4
Jemma’s nutrition, she was very nutritious because her mother would give her healthy food and
not much junk food (Berger, 164). As Jemma got older her parents noticed that she was left-
handed (Berger, 168). Jemma from the age of two to 3 had a huge language explosion (Berger,
182). As Jemma got older her parents started to teach her correct grammar (Berger, 184). Both
Jessica and Jose knew that they wanted her daughter to be bilingual they even put her in a
bilingual school (Berger, 188). Jemma had imaginary friends which her parents knew was
normal since children around her age also had imaginary friends (Berger, 204). Jemma in school
started to know about gender schema and how different she was from the boys that she grew up
with since she was little (Berger, 217). As Jemma gets more active her mother put her in dance
classes so she can have physical activity’s to do throughout the days (Berger, 240). Because,
Jemma was put in Bilingual school she knows somewhat fluently in both languages (Berger,
254). As the years go by Jemma started to compare herself to others in her classes and around
her (Berger, 282). Because Jemma grew up in a military family she was moving around from
state to state she then became very shy and had social anxiety when it came to making friends
(Berger, 290). Once Jemma was in the middle school she hit a growth spurt when she started her
period she started to go through menarche which is when a girl gets her first period (Berger,
316). Once she started her mother started to talk to her about sex and how everyone at one point
in their lives goes through this and how she is officially a woman (Berger, 316). Once she got her
first period older men started to notice Jemma she even started to date a older boy who was a
freshman in high school. Jemma even started to befriend an older woman who was in high
school (Berger, 322). As Jemma went to high school she joined the cheerleading team in which
she was considered “popular” (Berger 330). Once Jemma was a senior she started to think about

college and which University she wanted to attention (Berger 340). Jemma finally graduated and
