01
Preface from the Director

National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal,

established in 1965, has the vision to be a world class leader for comprehensive
development of technical education and technical teachers training systems. With
a mission to be the change agent, over the years, it has made innovations and
reforms in the technical education system through research, training, development,
dissemination and facilitation. In tune with the global needs, the institute has
already introduced outcome-based interventions for technical education system
and in teacher training in the western region.

NITTTR Bhopal offers need-based technical teachers training programmes every

year based on training need analysis conducted and the felt needs of its stakehold-
ers. The training programmes given in this calendar are based on the training needs
assessment carried out in all the states of western region, recent developmental Dr. C. Thangaraj
trends in the country and feedback of participants of previous training Director, NITTTR Bhopal
programmes. During April 2018 to March 2019, the institute plans to conduct more
than 100 training programme of two-week duration and more than 200 training programmes of one week duration in which
approximately 10000 participants are expected to be trained this year. As in the past year, certain project related
programmes have also been included this year in the calendar that is totally need-based and for the identified clientele. This
Annual Training Calendar has the details of the training schedules, regulations and procedures for registration, assessment
and other details related to participation in the various programmes. Like every year, during 2018-19, 257 inter-disciplinary,
subject-specific, state-specific training programmes are planned.

A stakeholders meeting was also conducted in NITTTR Bhopal on 22nd July, 2017 and feedback from the stakeholders were
received. In order to intensify the efforts for improving quality and performance of technical education system and institu-
tions, the need for certain policy changes have been found to be inevitable and were suggested for implementation from this
year onwards.

Two major policy changes made for implementation of NITTTR calendar during the year 2018-19 are:

1. The Training Certification will be assessment-based and not only attendance-based, as was done earlier.
All the training programmes offered in the year 2018-19 are planned to be activity-based and all the participants are
expected to maintain their portfolio of learning outcomes. There will be pre- and post-test to measure the impact of the
training programmes. NITTTR Bhopal will issue the certificate to only those participants who have attended all the sessions
during the programme, created a portfolio up to pre-defined level and successfully qualified in the post-test.

2. The Registration for the Training programmes is made online. To ensure the participation of the registered participants, a
nominal refundable fee will be charged from the participants for confirming the participation. This fee will be refunded to
participants of Govt. and Govt. Aided AICTE approved institutions as no fee is charged from such participants and they are
also entitled for TA/DA as per NITTTR norms in accordance with the policy of Govt. of India. For participants of self-financed
institutes and for tailor-made demand specific chargeable programmes on the basis of mutually agreed proposals for Govt.
and Govt. aided institutes, this fee will be adjusted towards the training fees they are supposed to pay.

The institute is undertaking a project on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in the area of technical teacher education
sponsored by MHRD under SWAYAM Platform. All the participants will gradually have opportunities to share the learning
experience of MOOC courses development.

We hope that all states and technical institutions would avail the opportunity this year with added vigor to improve the
quality of technical work force in the country.

02
