FANN SERIES 34 VISCOMETERS Accessories To FANN Direct Indicating
Series 34 models feature two test speeds for viscosity,
600 and 300 rpm. They also have a neutral position for the Viscometers
determination of thixotropic gelation on oil well drilling
fluids according to established API procedures. These
instruments combine accuracy with simplicity of design,
and particularly are recommended for evaluating mate-
rials that are Bingham plastics. They now have applica-
tions in other fields. The Model 34A is driven by a 12-volt
AC/DC motor and has a provision for stirring the sample at
high speed (not a test speed). Model HC34A is hand- SAMPLE
cranked, and test speeds are controlled by a patented CUPS
governor design. Shear stress is read directly from a cali-
brated scale. Plastic viscosity and yield point of a fluid can Baroid Testing offers four sample cup types. Left to right stan-

ROTOR-BOB COMBINATIONS
Various bobs normally are used with the standard R1
rotor; various rotors normally are used with the standard
B1 bob. Selection should be made on the basis of the
shear gap, which dictates both the shear-rate range and
the maximum particle size of any solid species. The
shear-stress range and, hence, the viscosity range of
measurement can be adjusted according to the selection
of the torsion spring.
ROTORS
The outer cylinder normally supplied with the FANN Direct
Indicating Viscometer, the R1 rotor sleeve, has an open
bottom and chrome-plated brass construction. It also is
available in a 303 stainless steel construction and in a

CIRCULATORS
Baroid now offers a family of FANN thermal liquid circula-
tors for use with the double-wall circulating cup or the
insulated sample cup for low temperature. These
precision-built circulators can be used with water or other
fluids to condition test samples thermally when the deter-
mination of viscosity must be made under the most pre-
cise measuring conditions. Interconnecting hoses,
clamps and fittings are included.

FANN Model 70 HTHP Viscometer
The Model 70 Viscometer is a new, direct-indicating coaxial cylinder viscometer specially developed to measure fluid
Theologies under extremely high pressures (20,000 psig) and temperatures (500° F). Because of its relatively compact
size it can be used onsite as well as in a laboratory, and represents a significant cost saving over instruments of similar
capabilities.
The Model 70 Viscometer consists of three major compo- System features:

40001—SAND CONTENT KIT
The Baroid Sand Content Kit is a simple, accurate and
inexpensive sieve analysis apparatus for determining the
sand content of drilling muds.
The kit consists of a special 200-mesh sieve 2Vz in. in
diameter, fastened inside a collar upon either end of which
fits a small funnel. This is used with a sand content tube.
The collar and funnel are made of polyethylene; the
screen is made of brass.
Use of the Baroid Sand Content Kit conforms to API
recommendations, RR No. 13B.

The 880 hand-held indicator is a rugged, portable device
designed to give accurate readings of temperature and
humidity over a broad range of conditions. It is extremely
compact and light in weight. The probe and main body are
factory matched. Field-selectable adjustment allows multi-
ple and interchangeable sensors. Range: 0%to 100% RH,
Accuracy: ± 2%, Power: 9-Volt Battery.
65510—BAROID EMULSION
TEST CELL
The Baroid Emulsion Test Cell approximates the high
shear that fluids experience in high pressure flow through
small orifices, and is ideally suited for laboratory and field
testing of water/oil mixtures. Additionally, the effect of
chemical additions on the emulsion properties of the mix- No. 31763-FANN Model 88C Resistivity Meter
