With deepest gratitude and appreciation, I warm-heartedly give thanks to the people
who, with all they can, helped me in making my Work Immersion a possible.

To my parents, who extend their unending love and support, providing my needs
financially and morally, working for my papers while I’m away and can’t do the task of taking

partial fulfilment as Senior High School Student.
To my siblings, for guiding me for what to do during Immersion as what they
experienced during their time, giving the list of requirements or important papers that is
needed.
To the institution where I am studying, the Palompon Institute of Technology, where I
am continuously growing as Senior High student and for instructor who keeps on inspiring us to
pursue our goals in life that every day is a chance for me to be someone better. I thank them for
excusing us for two weeks and for their understanding during their classes.

To the College of Engineering, for the warm welcome. To our Immersion supervisor
Ma’am Rey Ann Bande and to the rest College of Engineering(COTE) staff, for all their advices,
instruction and for everything that they taught me during my stay, for the patience in times of
failures, and for everything that they contributed as part of my learnings.

I. INTRODUCTION

Work Immersion is part of Senior High School curriculum that aims to immerse student
about their work in the future and for the exposure in their soon to be working place as related
to their track. It also helps the student to acquire relevant knowledge and skills in performing
actual work setting.
Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A Senior High School
student has to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that directly relates to the student’s
postsecondary goal. Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and become familiar
with work-related environment related to their field of specialization to enhance their
competence. Specifically, the students are able to gain relevant and practical industrial skills
under the guidance of industry experts and workers, appreciate the importance and application
of the principles and theories taught in school, enhance their technical knowledge and skills,
enrich their skills in communications and human relations, and develop good work habits,
attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work. These prepare them to meet the needs and
challenges of employment or higher education after graduation.

III. SUMMARY

The time we start our immersion is March 04, 2019. First, our supervisor let us
familiarize the work under their college, the files that needed to attach, how to receive
files from the other department, etc. The next day we assigned to punch the papers that
needed to compile, then until the day after, we bind the files to the binder and encoded
the page number within that specific file. Here in the other day our supervisor
instructed us to how to tab the page number to be attach to the file and consider as
division for them to find specific file easily. Sometimes they ask us to deliver the
releasing files to Accounting, HRMO, VPAA, or in President’s office. As COTE days come,
here we are challenge to do the work for kitchen, the dishwashing of dishes and other
kitchen stuffs. Then the COTE days past, we go back to our usual work, tabbing for the
files and needed document for the evaluation.

a. Working Conditions of the Work Immersion

We are Immerse as Information Communication Technology(ICT) at Palompon Institute
of Technology, specifically at the College of Engineering(COTE). As the condition, the building or
the office was located near the oval of PIT, the room is well ventilated, our supervisors treat us
well and we are having team work together with my classmate during the giving of task and
work that needed to do.
b. Experiential Learning of the Work Immersion Student
As we’ve been immerse I learned a lot of office work, the papers that need to check, the
files that was been released or received, on how to use photocopier, the tabbing of COTE files
etc. that I’m thankful for because we are exposed not only on our workplace and to our future
work but in office task as well.
c. Problems Encountered by the Trainee
We just encounter a little problem, like the instruction that our supervisor was given
that sometimes it’s hard for us to understand directly and need to repeat because we’re not
familiar with the things and we still need to adjust, but the most problem we encounter is the
conflict of time during our immersion, like our department excuse and pull us out for seminar,
pictorials, and other activities that can extend our duty hours.
VI. Conclusions/ Recommendations

a. Overall Suggestions/ Recommendations

I suggest a seminar for both students and teachers. I recommend to, because the
students are the one who will adjust in discussion, although I understand that teachers were
having their lesson plans but at least recouped and let the student cope up with the lessons that
they missed during their immersion. The students were exhausted and need to pass the
projects, ask for special quiz, and try to understand the lessons that already tackle during
immersion days. A seminar for the teachers and students give ideas to aware why student need
to immerse as part of their fulfilment.

b. Ways to Improve the Work Immersion Program

It seems like the program are not organized although it’s part of the K-12 curriculum
since last year. I want enough knowledge as one way to improve work immersion program for
both teacher and student to what is the essence and importance to why student have to
immerse and excuse for their class for a quiet period of time, I sense that teachers are not
aware although there is letter that signed by the principal, in that case student who immerse
have failing grades, they are behind with the class discussion and forge to understand the topic
without discussing it during examination, it is hard times for us to pass the exam if we didn’t
understand the topic that probably we missed during immersion unlike to those who are
fortunate to attend the class.
