Explanation

Zone – I: - Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike under notified areas.

Zone – II: - Other parts of the State Notified Areas under Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike other than the areas
mentioned in Zone – I.

Zone – III: - All District Places other than Areas Notified in Zone – I & Zone – II.

Zone – IV:- All other parts of the State other than Areas Notified in Zone – I, Zone – II & Zone – III.

VDA: In addition to the Basic wages, all categories of employees in the State shall be paid

VDA @ 4 paise per point over and above 6537 points.

The daily rate of wages and VDA of different categories of employees are computed by dividing the total monthly
wages by 26
The Minimum Wages of 2017 December Notifications have to read along with the Following Notification for
Implementation of the Conditions Specified therein.

The Notifications, particularly, those issued on 30.12.2017 contain certain distinctive features, which are not
included in the earlier Notifications. There are, In all, 21 new conditions and important conditions are given below:-

• Service Seniority Allowance @ 1 % of the Minimum Basic Wages for every completed year of service, for
the service above 10 years, subject to a maximum of 10%.
• Equal Wages for Women Employees.
• Protection of Employee’s Right to continue to receive Wages paid, as per the Settlement, if they are higher
than the Minimum Wages.
• Equal pay for Equal Work, including Right to receive Minimum Wages, in case of Piece-rated Employees.
• Payment of Wages through Bank Account.
• The Contract Labourers are entitled to receive Minimum wages, as prescribed under the Notification.
• The Employer’s Contribution towards the Social Security – PF and ESI should be on Minimum Wages.
• Only the Trainees engaged under the certified standing Order, shall be paid 75% of the prescribed Minimum
Wages, during the Training Period. All other Trainees shall be paid the Minimum Wages, as prescribed,
except the Trainees engaged under the Government Schemes. Such Trainees shall have to be paid wages, as
prescribed under the Govt Schemes.
• Splitting of Minimum Wages into other Components prohibited. The components of wages should be paid,
as specified in the Notification.
