I. Piping Color Coding Identification with Band and Label System

1.1 All piping line with diameter equal or larger than 2”, except fire fighting system, use basic color Light
Grey, BS 4800 Ref. 10-A-03 or RAL 7038, for all length of the pipe. It also called decoratif color.
1.2 Fluids in pipe identified by band and label system, color of band accordance with Table 1. Piping
Color Coding Identification.

1.3 Color band describe of type or fluid service, for example : Oil (Brown color band RAL 8003).

1.4 Use of label with provide detailed identification from content, for example : Crude Oil (MS Sans Serif
Gothic Bold text letter with white color text)

1.5 Background color of label must be accordance with columns background color in Table 1. Piping
Color Coding Identification.

1.6 All color refers to BS 4800 Standard or RAL.

1.7 Width of color band must be accordance with Table 2. Width of color band.

1.8 Label shall be provided at the same interval, all interval not less than 30 meters and no more than 50
meters except pipe location in plant using less than 30 meters.

1.9 Labels should be short and informative. Text size of different pipe diamters must be accordance with
Table 3. Size of text labels.

1.10 Length of label must be accordance with Table 3. Size of text labels and should be applied adjacent
to color band location.

1.11 Color band should be applied in both sides and apply near of valve, tee, fitting.

1.12 All valve except control valve shall be painting full body, the color must be accordance with fluids
fill in pipe or color band code identification.

1.13 Control valve shall be paint with one of the following two colors, to indicate whether control valve
designed to fail open or fail close. If fail open control valve shall be paint green color, BS 4800 14-E-53 or
RAL 6024. Fail close control valve shall be paint red color, BS 4800 04-E-53 or RAL 3000.
