COURSE DESCRIPTION/OVERVIEW
Students continue their study of French by further expanding their knowledge of key
vocabulary topics and grammar concepts. Students not only begin to comprehend listening and
reading passages more fully, but they also start to express themselves more meaningfully in both
speaking and writing. Each unit consists of a new vocabulary theme and grammar concept, reading
and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing activities, multimedia cultural
presentations, and interactive activities and practices which reinforce vocabulary and grammar
The course is mainly taught in French to promote language proficiency. Speaking and writing will
develop at different times for students, but will be expected of all students. Students are expected to
participate in class which will make our French learning community more meaningful and fun.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Students will need personal supplies such as a notebook, binder, pencils and a pen.
Students will need at times a technology device (phone, iPad, computer, etc.). These devices
will be used to further instruction. We live in a technology driven world where the devices that
teachers and students have can be incredibly useful. However, students should not use personal
technology during class for personal reasons. There is a time and a place for technology. Students will
learn when it is appropriate and when it is not. If students are using their personal technology
inappropriately during class it will be confiscated.
Students may need headphones or ear buds but will be prompted to bring them to class the
day before.
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
See Les Règles de la Classe handout.
ABSENCE POLICY
Students should check in with me about what they missed prior to school, or through email,
not during instruction time. If the absence is anticipated, students should talk to me before their
absence. As an alternative students can also check the bin with their class period on it labeled “HIER”
(yesterday). They can also ask a trusted classmate for their notes from the day of the absence.
If a student misses an assessment, they will receive a reminder to schedule a time to take it
outside of regular class time.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
It is expected that members of this class will observe strict policies of academic honesty and
will be respectful of each other. Any instances of cheating, (plagiarism, unauthorized use of
copyrighted materials, computer accounts, or someone else’s work) will be referred to Student
Services and will be investigated to its full extent. Student’s will receive a 0 for that assignment and
will be encouraged to redo it. Copying someone else’s homework counts as cheating.
