Back-off and Circulation Recovery
Back-off and run Jarring Assembly

Backing-off close to a retrievable

packer, makes it possible to place
the jarring assembly close to the
packer.

• Large selection of sizes
Bowen Itco Releasing Spear

Features and Benefits

• Engages fish internally
• Releasable
• Will transmit torque while in tension
• Larger sizes allow use of wireline
• Large selection of sizes
• Accessories allow circulation
Tri-State Type “D” Spear
Features and Benefits
• Engages fish internally
• Can be set for right-hand or left-
hand release
• Will transmit torque while in tension
(vertical wicker slips available)
• Larger sizes allow use of wireline
• Large selection of sizes
• Accessories allow circulation
• Slips do not contact wall during TIH
Taper and Box Taps
Features and Benefits
• Wide catch range
• Box Tap has small tool OD to fish OD
catch size
• Carburized teeth
• Wide range of sizes

Caution:
These tools cannot be released downhole.
The preferred method of engaging a fish
When ever possible, the string should be
screwed back together

Features and Benefits:

• Maximum allowable circulation
• Maximum torque may be applied
• Cannot accidentally release
• Maximum strength for jarring
Bumper Jar

Features and Benefits:

• Provides free travel
– for jarring down
– to provide “soft touch”
when screwing into a fish
– assist in releasing overshot
both down hole and at
surface
• High tensile and torsional
yield
Oil Jar

Features and Benefits:

• Delivers high upward impact
• Degree of impact is controlled from
surface
• Open ID for wireline operations
• High tensile and torsional yield
Drill Collars

Drill collars provide the mass required to make the

impact of the jar effective.

The force from the upward movement of mass is
transmitted through the knocker in the oil jar
Accelerator or Intensifier Jars

Features and Benefits:

• Improves efficiency of Oil Jars
• Lessens impact on work string and derrick
• Open ID for wireline operations
• High tensile and torsional yield
Washover Applications

• Wash debris from top of

packer
• Washover tubing sanded
up in annulus
• Washover and outside cut
tubing sanded up in the ID
Washover Shoes

Washover shoes are designed to

perform the following functions:
• Mill away junk from around a
fish
• Mill and wash away settled out
mud
• Mill and remove sand, scale or
other possible chemical debris

Washpipe and Top Sub

• Washpipe’s primary function is to allow a

large section of fish to be swallowed.
• The farther away the back-off or cut, the more
washpipe is needed to reach bottom
• The top sub acts as an X-over to the jarring
BHA.

Junk Mill

If a packer can be milled,

pushed to bottom and left
in hole, this provides the
most fail safe method to
remove packer from area
of well.
Fishing Wireline in Cased Hole
