What’s New in 2005?
Twenty-four years ago, David was teaching high-school physics and writing Apple II
software for use with his students. We sold our first programs that year after placing
an ad in a physics teaching journal. A lot has changed since then. We now have
over sixty employees at Vernier. The technology has come a long way, and you have
more choices in data-collection products. Some things, however, have remained
constant. Vernier has always produced high-quality products at prices schools
can afford. You can count on us for extraordinary customer service, innovative
technology, and an unwavering commitment to science education.
Last year we added our low-cost, USB-direct Go! product line. Our Go!Temp and
Dave Vernier teaching Go! Link products brought the price of data collection down so that schools with
a physics workshop limited budgets could afford to get involved. This year we are pleased to announce
another inexpensive USB-direct sensor: Go!Motion. As part of the development of
Go!Motion, we also have made some nice improvements to our Motion Detector.
We also have added more than 13 totally new products, including several new
physiology sensors (Blood Pressure, Spirometer, Hand-Grip Heart Rate Monitor,
and Hand Dynomometer), a Salinity Sensor, and a Charge Sensor. We are also
announcing some exciting new hardware products: our first Dynamics Track

Vernier Dynamics System

We took a standard physics teaching tool and made
it better—a lot better. Our carts are extremely low
friction, and they stay that way due to sealed bearings.
The machined wheels are truly round, unlike molded
wheels. The heavy track stays flat and true, and the
black anodized finish makes for very low friction. Plus,
the flip side of the track works as an optics bench! The
Vernier Dynamics System is a perfect match for the
redesigned Vernier Motion Detector.

Optics Bench
The Combination Dynamics Track and Optical Bench
is black anodized aluminum, and includes a metric
scale on both sides. Extremely rigid, this 1.2 meter track
will not sag under use. A collection of stops, feet, and
brackets to hold Photogates and the Vernier Motion
Detector complete the kit.

Vernier Dynamics Carts

The Vernier carts are used
for kinematics
and dynamics
experiments. Attach
a Dual Range Force
Sensor or use them
with our redesigned
Vernier Motion
Detector. Roll the cart
down a ramp to study constant acceleration, or use two
carts to study momentum conservation. With extremely
low friction due to sealed bearings and machined
wheels, this superior cart gives very high quality data.
Interchangeable magnetic and Velcro end caps make it
possible to do many experiments. The Plunger Cart has a
spring-loaded plunger for consistent collisions, while the
Standard Cart is similar, but has no plunger. Vernier carts

You have a choice of full-featured data-collection interfaces for use with TI graphing calculators—the Vernier LabPro or the Texas
Instruments CBL 2. Both devices were developed jointly by Vernier and Texas Instruments. The similarities between LabPro and CBL 2
include the plastic housing, buttons, cradle, built-in DataMate program for TI graphing calculators, and Flash memory.
Of course there are differences. The biggest difference is LabPro is designed for use with computers and calculators, while CBL 2
is primarily a calculator interface. Calculator users may choose LabPro, since it has more ports, higher resolution, and offers more

Hands-On AP*Biology Workshops
Vernier, Ward’s, and Texas Instruments will co-host three 2-day AP Biology Summer Workshops. These workshops
will feature hands-on training for seven of the twelve AP Biology lab activities recommended by The College Board.

Vernier Site License We have a very generous site license policy. Purchase of one copy of any Vernier program entitles you to install it
on every computer in your school or college department (including the school network). Purchasers of Logger Pro,
Logger Lite, Graphical Analysis 3, and Spectro Pro are also permitted to distribute these programs to their students or
teachers for home use.
Other Software TI InterActive!™, Davis WeatherLink for Vantage Pro, VideoPoint/VideoPoint Capture software, and ProScope USB
Shot software are licensed under separate agreements by their respective companies.
