ABSTRACT

The use of “imperfecto” and “indefinido” has generated continually problems that affect
those who want to learn or must learn Spanish as a Foreign Language. Because of
this, the differences in aspect and tense that distinguishdistinction with this opposition
need to be addressed in order to facilitate the teaching andas well as the logical
understanding of this past verb tenses by means of visual images as well. ForTo this
end, the phenomena of linguistic interest willshall be analysed from the standpoint of
cognitive grammar, demonstrating that the perspective of „imperfecto“ concserns/is
used to refer to the not-endunfinished state of a process or an event and the moment
parallell to a point in time the previous pointto the one of the speech. In contraststead,
the perspective of “indefinido” alludes to the end of a process or event and to the
moment parallell to the final momento that takes place before the enunciation. This
epistemic-tense and aspectual distinctiondifference between “imperfecto” and
“indefinido” will be achieved through images that facilitates the teaching of said/this
opposition which will, designed to make it explanatory and didactic.
